Grabbed a growler from the brewpub yesterday afternoon.
Pours a solid, hazy orange with a thin whisp of off-white head. Laces pretty well as it goes down. Nose is very nice, yet quite subtle. Definite notes of caramelized malt, roasted pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, and a host of other pumpkin-pie spices. I love the balance between the sweet, caramel nature of the malt and the hint of spices. The taste takes this even further in the right direction, as the balance is quite nice and refreshing. This is the rare pumpkin beer that is neither cloying nor suffering from spice overload. Mouthfeel is a bit thinner than I would like, although I’m bumping it back up a bit due to the fact that my tongue is assailed and pierced by excess cinnamon and clove. Drinkability is really great. My wife and I split a growler of this without a problem. I certainly could have gone for more, which is a rare occurrence, as I’m normally quite done with a pumpkin beer after 6-8 ounces.

4 oz cask pour at Mad Fox, freshly tapped right after I ordered it! Clear light golden brown with off-white head. Aromas of spices and pumpkin. Tastes of big pumpkins, spices, light herbs, cinnamon and nutmeg. Medium body with a dry finish. Medium carbonation. Might be the best batch they’ve brewed of this, pumpkin flavors were very nice. radagast83 (8327) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - NOV 11, 2010
On tap at the brewpub. Poured a dark copper color, orange notes, small white head. Spices are noticeable, pumpkin is there - but subtle. Flavor was incredibly spicy, notes of nutmeg, clove, ginger, a lot more "pumpkin pie" then pumpkin. There was a lot going on with this particular pumpkin beer - and that’s a good thing. strap (955) - Sindelfingen, GERMANY - OCT 1, 2010
Nice caramel coloring with little head. Excellent mix of pumpkin spices that doesn’t overpower the beer like a lot of other pumpkin brews seem to do. Well done argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - OCT 15, 2010
