COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A sturdy farmhouse-style ale that showcases a yeast from northern France, along the Belgian border. The earth and spice notes as well as the citrus fruit character are yeast driven. The balance and complexity of the aroma will change as the beer warms in your hand. Medium bitterness, and honey-ish malt with a semi-dry finish.

I knew I had a backlog to enter... I didn’t realize it went back to freakin’ August. Time to get busy. On draft at Mekong, labelled as The Funk. Cloudy golden, nice head. Aroma of crackery malts, "Belgian" yeast phenolics and slight esters, some tropical fruit. Flavor matches. Good stuff, solid as usual from Mad Fox.

Had as The Funk. Pours cloudy golden with white head. Aroma is lemon with citrus hoppiness, and horse blanket. Nice tart lemon flavor to start followed by floral and citrus finishing with tart and funky yeastiness. Excellent!

Sample at Industry Night at HomeBrewCon. Lightly fruity earthy spicy with lots of banana in the nose and flavor. Light sweet honey maltiness rounds this out nicely, but I wanted more pepper less fruit.

Draft at the source. Slightly hazy yellow body with a small white collar. Aromas of banana, clove, citrus. More like a hefe than a saison. Light and slightly sweet. Easy drinking. Pretty good.

Draft at Mad Fox. Pours almost clear amber with a fizzy white head. Tastes like sweet herbs, grapes, apple, light spice, lemon. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like fermenting apples, light herbs and spice, light lemony citrus.

Sampler at the pub. Spicey. Good yeast and banana flavors. On the smooth side. Finish is clove, spice and lots of toasty bread. Banana there again.

UPDATED: AUG 25, 2014 4 oz draft pour at Mad Fox on 7/14/2014. Clear straw yellow with off-white head. Aromas of citrus fruit and peel, herbs, spices. Tastes of citrus fruit and peel, funk, lemon, spices, floral notes. Medium body with a dry finish. Medium-low carbonation.

Tried the Galactic Funk version on 8/25/2014 which is the saison on cask dry hopped with Galaxy. The Galaxy adds a nice fruitiness to the taste.

Draft->lager at the brewpub. Hazy dark gold with small white head. Herbs, pepper, citrus, bright malt, yeast. To be fair, I am not a fan of saisons in general, but even so, this is a bit of a mess.

A hazed amber saison with a thin white head. In aroma, sweet fruity malt with light ginger notes. In mouth, a sweet orange peel with caramel malt, light coriander, oily mouthfeel, nice. On tap at Snallygaster DC, Oct. 13 2012.
