A Stout beer in the style of the great Irish brews made with Pale, Black and Chocolate malts with a heavy use of Roasted Barley to dry out the palate and lend a very roasty finish to this beer. A very malt accented brew that is lightly hopped with the English hop varietal First Gold. This beer is jet black in color and is unfiltered.

Draft at Mellow Mushroom Carytown. Poured black, brown at edges, slight head. Aroma of black malts, coffee accented in nature. Flavor was very similar - definite emphasis on what I can only describe as a "clean" roasted barley malt profile. Drinkable as the style should be. The hops blended very nicely with the malts, lending a presence without being at all a star. Nicely done.

Appearance: watery dark brown pour from cask, minimal soapy ring of tan head. Aroma: light roasty, hint of coffee. Taste: minimal flavor, like a slightly chocolate-flavored, watery coffee. Finish: short, dry, scant. Notes: Wow, this was disappointing. Perhaps it was the fact that this was on cask, but it was almost flavorless, with an incredibly watery palate. Blech. Draught from cask at the brewery.

Sampled at Churchkey during CBC week. On cask. Pours a watery black with some off white head. Nose of smoke, plastic, a little grilled meat. Flavor of malt, mushrooms, soy, smoke, bread. Light finish. Kind of strange.

Cask @ mad fox - pours black with a tan head. Aroma is faintly smokey with some malty notes. Pretty faint though. Taste is a tad bitter, but again this is pretty mild. Palate is thin and a bit dry. Overall, Id rather have milder then burnt, but its still a bit boring.
