(Sample Date: 3/19/2011 Source:Other) Growler from the brewery. Nutty chocolate with hints of roast and caramelized sugars in the aroma. Clear very dark amber brown with fine off white head. Roasty with coffee and burnt sugar notes and chocolate. Black patent malt? Very dry with a bit of a roasty astringency which lingers. Light body and mouthfeel.

Draft. Dark maroon brown color, tan head. Aroma of burnt toast, toffee. Taste is toasted brownies dipped in coffee. Very tasty. Kinz (3786) - Glen Allen, Virginia, USA - JUL 31, 2016
Draft at Mellow Mushroom Carytown. Poured black, brown at edges, slight head. Aroma of black malts, coffee accented in nature. Flavor was very similar - definite emphasis on what I can only describe as a "clean" roasted barley malt profile. Drinkable as the style should be. The hops blended very nicely with the malts, lending a presence without being at all a star. Nicely done. BeerandBlues2 (13697) - Escondido, California, USA - MAR 22, 2011
