Cask at CK thx to Alex. Weak head atop dark ruby. Looks black. Nose is volatile detergent. Soy, cherries, black tea. Smoked meat even. Taste is watery, papery. Palate is very thin. Light smoked character. Odd.

Draft. Pours near black with a beige head. Light roasted malty aroma with some light sweet malty notes. The flavor has dry roasted malts, with some nutty and caramel sweetness. Nice.

Pours a very dark brown bordering on black with a thin tan head and some nice lacing. Nose is roasted malt, slight coffee, and a bit if vanilla. Taste is very slight vanilla and roast with a tiny amount if chocolate. Feel is fairly light with low carbonation. Nice and easy drinking.

Served on draft at the brewpub. Pours a very dark reddish brown color with a medium frothy light tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Nutty and roasty aroma with some chocolate notes. The taste is roasted malts, chocolate, oats, nuts, sweet caramel notes and mildly bitter hops. Medium bodied with a lingering bitterness. Nice beer. On tap at the brewpub (also had cask). Pitch black pour with extremely creamy head. The beer’s appearance really reminded me of Guinness. Flavor had notes of chocolate, dark malts, and what I can only describe as lactose (probably just the creamy character). Taste was not overpowering and the alcohol content wasn’t front and center so it was really nice.
