Bottle from Beer Zoo. Lightly hazed amber, white head. Coconut and banana, belgian esters. Medium body, smooth fizz. Light tart and fruity taste. Dry finish. GOod stuff as usual from Mad Hatter. Towey1989 (3341) - Stoke On Trent, Staffordshire, ENGLAND - JUN 18, 2016
Keg at The Ship & Mitre, Liverpool. A hazy golden colour with a foamy white head. Aroma of lemon, some grapefruit, dill, slight bubblegum and peppery, grassy hops. Taste of lemon, grapefruit, some dill, slight bubblegum, subtle pale malts and peppery, grassy hops. Medium bodied and moderate carbonation. A dry, lemony, peppery hop bitterness in the finish. The sorachi ace hops are there but grapefruit and pepper runs through the beer from start to finish, plus a little bubblegum. Different but there’s better sorachi ace hopped beers out there. at_the_hop (109) - Worcestershire, ENGLAND - JAN 30, 2016
Bottle. Neck smells...Belgian. Poured out smells...Belgian plus fresh lemons. OK interesting, they have layered hops over the saison base to take the tart edge off and bring in a herbaceous and grassy hop bitterness in its place. Preserved lemons are on the finish along with that European not quite banana but almost flavour. I think the coconut is there if you look for it. An interesting and novel take on the style but would like to see the hop dynamic ratcheted up to really hug my beautiful little beer swilling face.
