Pours a cloudy copper brown with a thin off-white head. Toasty sweet bready malty aroma with a hoppy presence and a touch of squash. Semi-sweet syrupy body with a pleasant dry hoppiness through. A decent barleywine, but could use some more complexity. Thanks to TheBeerCellar2 for sharing. goldtwins (4320) - Nesconset, New York, USA - JAN 29, 2005
UPDATED: DEC 12, 2005 Poured a mostly clear copper color. Aroma was malty, sweet, fruity and mildly alcoholic. Flavors of sweet malt, hop bitterness, alcohol, and lightly fruity. Medium bodied.RateandPillage (426) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - JAN 26, 2005
2001 Vintage: Poured a hazy amber color. Aroma of pineapple and sweet malt. Flavor was sweet and fruity. A little syrupy with a bitter finish.
Murky and light brown in the pour. Malty alcohol aroma. Unfortunately, kind of a hint of "sweaty" aroma as well. Sweetness, spiciness and fig flavor. Fairly hoppy. Good balance, but somewhat mediciny in the flavor. Maybe with the off aroma and flavor, I got a bad bottle. thefatmanrocks (22) - California, USA - JAN 17, 2005
2004 bottle - Malty! Long lasting head - off white. Cloudy brown (looked like liquid milk chocolate) Dry malty flavor. Needs time to sweeten A bit wooden or smokey flavor (couldn’t tell which) Finished with light molassas undertones.

Light brown/amber color, small off white head that faded quickly leaving little behind.Malty hoppy aroma with a light grapefruit side, and a slight Juicy Fruit gum smell as well.Hmmm.Malty flavor comes through at first then it switches quickly to a medium strngth hop taste that lastes for some time. This brew may be a little young because all i seem to get is a grapefruit and hops flavor throughout the tasting. Not bad but may need a little more bottle time to sweeten up. brewshthereen (316) - Oregon, USA - JAN 2, 2005
Poured a cloudy amber/orange with not much of a head. Sweet candy, fruity aroma. Flavor is about the same, but with some toffee, and bread also. Mouthfeel is creamy and a bit cloying. Overall, for an organic barleywine this offering made me pretty happy. hershiser2 (3242) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - DEC 21, 2004
2003 bottle sampled 12-21-04; Paid $2.10 for a 12-oz single. Deep rubyish brown with a small head. Smells very sweet and malty. Taste is alcohol-filled... quite complex, with sweetness up front, chocolate middle, coffee ending, and bitter licorice finish. A nice brew. irishsnake (355) - Oakland, California, USA - DEC 14, 2004
pours a hazy dark orange with some bottom of the bottle floaties. aroma is very nice-rich toasty malt notes with some spicy hops and a little alcohol. flavor much like the nose-a very rich maltiness with a nice finishing hop and some alcohol warmth. goes down scary-easy for its size

2003 Bottle: Beer pours murky dark amber with a rapidly dissipating tan colored head. Aroma is rich, with notes of caramel, mellowed hops, and alcohol. Flavor is malty with caramel, alcohol and a spicy, peppery finish. This is not world class barleywine, in fact it seems to me to be more like and English strong and would rate more highly in that style catefory.
