Malty, hoppy and robust, Double IPA is dry hopped with Amarillo hops for a fresh piney and citrus flavor and aroma. Aggressively hopped, but perfectly balanced. Grunt fill from Albertsons. Dark amber pour, small creamy head, lots of lacing. Aroma is nice rich blend of hops and malts, while taste features a much richer malt base. Bottle, can’t see a date. Amber with an off white head that’s soon a coat but laces OK. Aroma of kumquats, grapes, toast, some overripe tropical fruit. 6+ Sweet with caramel, peach, tropical fruit, citrus. Not very vibrant but pleasant enough. Resin and bitterness creep up. Pours clear copper color with a small head. Resin and orange on the nose, malts, toffee, apricot. Flavor is malty and caramel-y, bitterness, resinous hops and mild sweet toffee, ripe fruits on the finish. Alcohol is not too strongly present but is there. Decent.
Bottle from Bridgend Service Station. Murky amber body with a thin white head. Faint lacing. Aroma of rye, pine and honey. Flavour of caramel, fig and dried leaves. 12 oz bottle poured at a restaurant in Humboldt County. Pours a thick copper orange with a rocky foam head. Rich caramel and soft pine hops aroma with a matching flavor. Good malt bill. Creamy. Medium bitterness. Has a memorable sweetness to it. Not really July typenif double here. Doesn’t drink very easy, but has good things going for it.
