Bottle thanks to Chow. Pours a dark brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is wood, roasted malt, cocoa. Medium body, roasted malt, chocolate, wood, bitter dry finish, very good. Tognetta (953) - São Paulo, BRAZIL - APR 26, 2017
Bastante Bourbon, nozes, amadeirada, álcool aparente e convidativo.
Refrigerated 12.7 oz. brown bottle poured into snifter. A clear medium brown with small beige head. Aroma is caramel malt & wood, medium body, low carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is caramel malt, wood, and a little alcohol. Wallaby501 (132) - - JAN 7, 2017
Boozy toffee aroma. Dark black appearance with a decent head. Somewhat thin body but fantastic bourbon flavored toffee and dark fruit. Very good beer. Not a huge barleywine guy but this was great. beastiefan2k (4230) - HdG (past: NYC, KS, Rain City), Maryland, USA - JAN 5, 2017
Sampler at 8ball brewing. Dark colored beer, black. Chewy malts, not astringent, faint autolysis but good. A lightly big barleywine. Aroma is earthy, alcohol, dusty lightly brownie malts. Best beer I tried at 8ball, should have went to Madtree instead.

500 ml bottle. Pours very dark and oil slick like. Big notes of bourbon and a lot of chocoalte. Very smooth. Very good. bluejacket74 (1996) - Reynoldsburg, Ohio, USA - OCT 29, 2016
16.9 ounce bottle, no date that I found on it but I’m pretty sure it’s a 2016 release. Served in a MadTree snifter, the beer pours a very dark brown/black color with about an inch tan head that stuck around for a little while. It looks like it could easily pass for being a stout if I didn’t know any better. There’s also a good amount of lacing. I like the aroma a lot, the brew smells like bourbon, vanilla, dark fruit, and toffee. Taste is similar to the aroma, it tastes like bourbon, vanilla, molasses, dark fruit, chocolate, oak, toffee and nuts. Definitely a sweeter tasting barleywine. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it’s a bit coating and creamy with moderate carbonation. I thought this was a pretty good bourbon barrel aged barleywine, I’ll have to pick up another bottle or 2 of this one. $14.99 a bottle. Chudwick (3501) - Taylor Mill, Kentucky, USA - OCT 14, 2016
16.9oz bottle - nose is what the last few drinks at Darklord smell like. Bourbon and molasses. A sipper. DialSquare (5198) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUN 23, 2016
Draft, MadTree tap takeover at Bodega: dark brown pour, thin beige head. aroma of bourbon, malty, tobacco, sweet caramel. tastes are dark fruit, little bourbon, chocolate, coffee, toffee, earthy. big palate. solid sipper. madelfonatree (317) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - AUG 16, 2015
Enjoyed August 15, 2015 in a tulip at Crest Parsons.
Look - Dark body, almost black. Less than a finger of light tan head. Good lacing. Fine to medium bubbles.
Smell - Whiskey. Cherry. Dark fruit. Vanilla.
Taste - Same from nose. Vanilla finish. Strong bourbon.
Feel - Heavy. Carbonation stronger than style would suggest. Decent alcohol burn.
Overall - Black barleywine. MadTree. Get it.
