Apricot flavouring
A Beer Cloaked in Secrecy An ale whose mysterious and unusual palate will swirl across your tongue and ask more questions than it answers. A beer brewed clandestinely and given a name whose meaning is never revealed. Why #9? Why, indeed. A sort of dry, crisp, fruity, refreshing, not-quite pale ale. #9 is really impossible to describe because theres never been anything else quite like it. Fermented with our 150 year old strain of top-fermenting English yeast.

Nice-looking pour light copper with bubbly head. Aroma of apricot and lightly toasted, flowery malts. Light berry and apricot flavor that competes with the malts. Short fruity finish. Light to medium body with soft carbonation.

Gold-amber color, small head. Nose is distinctly apricot. Inital apricot flavor fades after about the 4th sip. I did not realize this was supposed to be an apricot beer until I really checked out the label. I actually liked this beer, but I would not consider it a good example of a fruit beer.

Pours amber with a white head. Smells of reaberries and cherries. Tastes citrussy with some nice fruity undertones. Great session beer.

On tap. Fruity nose(cherry?) light amber, tiny cream head. Mild malt taste, wonder where the fruit went? Light bodied, So, so.

Marigold orange clear body with medium offwhite head that laces and sticks to the glass. Instant aroma of apricots and a hint of caramel. Light flavor of apricot and hop. Kind of weak compared to the aroma. Thin palate with a refreshing, lingering apricot finish. The Dogfhish Head Aprihop is a better choice.

Light amber. Nice white head. Hoppy and sweet aroma. Taste has a nice bitter sweetness to it. Not too shabby.

Hazy golden ale with a thick white head. Sourish apricot and lemon with wheat in aroma. Good malty base with some apricot and a good dose of sharp hops, crisp in mouth, a bit mineral. Medium bodied.

Drank it about a million times, and now am finally rating it. Pours out a straw color with a fruity aroma. The taste isnt overlly complex, just notes of apricot and sweet malt, agree with previous raters that it needs a kick on the hop end of things, Dogfishs aprihop is a much better choice

UPDATED: OCT 22, 2005 the standard beer for magic hat. has a little citrus flavor to it but it could use some more hops. good beer that is always avilable.
