A Beer Cloaked in Secrecy An ale whose mysterious and unusual palate will swirl across your tongue and ask more questions than it answers. A beer brewed clandestinely and given a name whose meaning is never revealed. Why #9? Why, indeed. A sort of dry, crisp, fruity, refreshing, not-quite pale ale. #9 is really impossible to describe because there’s never been anything else quite like it. Fermented with our 150 year old strain of top-fermenting English yeast.

Clear orangish with no head. Unfamiliar aroma... not a huge aroma, but it’s there. Flavor is... well, kinda lacking, a bit like unsweetened koolaid, but not even that strong. Decent, and I’ll give it another shot now that I’ve read about it... but I wasn’t overly impressed.

Had at the Rohrbach’s summer brew fest. Berries in the nose, straw color, malt and hops in the palate and a dry finish. One of the less impressive fruit beers of the day.

Draft. Amber body with no head. Nose is sour fruit and stale hops. Light malty sweetness and corn notes. Unpleasant, really. Taste is better with ripened fruit notes, light malt sweetness, dry hops and some caramel notes. Body is light and smooth with minimal carbonation feel. Finishes with more fruity notes, caramel, sweet malts and mild hops. I wanted this to be better than it is but it didn’t meet my expectations. Average beer.

Funky aroma, some ringwoody buttered caramel, some kind of vague fruitiness, peachy or persimmon. Flavor quite the same. Amber color nice, if a little cloudy. Weird but not bad.

Tap. Pours light orange amber with almost no head. Surprisingly thick mouthfeel, not too carbonated. Essentially, this beer starts out quite apple-y and apricot-y, diminishing in quality as the drinking progresses. Strong fruity aromas in the nose, if a little artificial. First sip is sweet, but not what I’d call malty - a crisp cider attack. As the flavors travel toward the back of the tongue, the apple becomes sweeter and more cloying, with a hint of sourness, until finishing with a sort of nasty oaky taste - the core and the stem. Overall, refreshing and definitely interesting, but like most sweet beers, I got annoyed by the end. Better while cold; best suited out of cold bottles on a hot day.

The commercial description sums it up. Good, but not really able to compare it up. A little malty, a little hop, a little fruit, a little ?, and so on. Try it and see for your self.

Bright orange-amber color, with shy foamy white head, fruity, pale malt, hoppy note and peachy- apricot like aroma, spicy corianderand wheat nose, follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a fruity peachy character from the hop used, spicy, crystal malt, crisp in a soft hoppy finish.

12 oz bottle Brickseller, DC: Clear orange gold with minimal, diminishing head. Strange syrupy aroma with honeydew & grapefruits. Sweet, artificial raspberries mixed with chlorophyll and grapes. Thinning palate with a chewy Styrofoam finish. Truly revolting.

Robe blonde claire surmontée d’une mousse généreuse qui s’estompe lentement en dentelle. Arômes de pain et de malt. Âcre au goût, elle n’affiche que peu de richesse... et ou est le goût d’abricot???
