Apricot flavouring
A Beer Cloaked in Secrecy An ale whose mysterious and unusual palate will swirl across your tongue and ask more questions than it answers. A beer brewed clandestinely and given a name whose meaning is never revealed. Why #9? Why, indeed. A sort of dry, crisp, fruity, refreshing, not-quite pale ale. #9 is really impossible to describe because there’s never been anything else quite like it. Fermented with our 150 year old strain of top-fermenting English yeast.

12 oz bottle from notes. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a small white head. The aroma and flavor have grainy malts, some apricot and peach character, pale malts, mild bitterness, not too much going on here, meh.

Golden with active carbonation. 1/2 inch white head that fades quickly to a thin ring with light lacing that quickly slides down the glass. Nice hoppy/fruity/citrus aroma with a hint of sweetness. Reasonable mouth feel for the pale ale style. Odd malt or fruit initial taste that transitions to a sweet aricot with a very slight bitterness with the fruit sweetness lingering on the tongue. This beer is interesting, at least, and hardly ordinary. It is enjoyable enough to finish the 6-pack over a few days, but not enjoyable enough that I will buy it again. Even though it is easy drinking at first, it begins to wear out its welcome; I couldn’t have more than 2 at a sitting.

I remember the first time I ever had this beer. I thought it was great, and it still is if what you define as "great" is more commonly defined as "not that good." It’s color is darkish light, its taste is weak, and I couldn’t tell you what it smells like. This was once a great beer to get you started in drinking craft beer. Now it’s a great beer to ignore.

I had it on tap. It pours a copper color with a white head and little lacing. The aroma is berries and bread malt. The taste is berries, bread, and honey. The sweetness isn’t overwhelming, and it’s pretty smooth. This was pretty good.

Bottle, winter mixed 12 pack. Medium gold, slight haze. Bready aroma, sweet with some fruit. Slight spice, faint stone fruit in the background. Cereal grain and honey finish.

35 cl bottle i took over from a bottleshop in Manhattan, NY, 9 months ago. Light orange color, slightly hazed, big but reciding white head, no lacing, fizzy. Funky smell. Aroma is fruity, flowery. Belgian-like fruity esters with a light sulphuric edge, yeast, white grapes, pear, plum, sugar. Some leaves and earth. Taste sweetish, a bit sour, light to medium body, heavily carbonated, farily dry mediu-short finish. Not quite ordinary indeed.

Found the only worthwhile thing about this beer to be the pour and the appearance. Once it hit the palate everything was downhill. The flavor was nearly nothing except for some saccharine overtones that remained far too long on the palate. Will not be returning to this one.
