A Beer Cloaked in Secrecy An ale whose mysterious and unusual palate will swirl across your tongue and ask more questions than it answers. A beer brewed clandestinely and given a name whose meaning is never revealed. Why #9? Why, indeed. A sort of dry, crisp, fruity, refreshing, not-quite pale ale. #9 is really impossible to describe because there’s never been anything else quite like it. Fermented with our 150 year old strain of top-fermenting English yeast.

Clear copper pour with a very bubbly head that left lacing on the side of the glass before I’ve even had a sip. Strong hoppy nose that’s a touch grainy and grassy. Dry. Easy to drink. Refreshing. No strong pale ale bite. Rather nice. I’m not a fan of pale ales but I have to say I’m a fan of a not quite pale ale. I could see buying a case of these for the weekend. Very nice. Yeasty flowery aftertaste that is pretty pleasant.

From a can. A thin bodied beer with coarse carbonation, pretty standard but drinkable.

12 oz bottle. Pours amber with a one finger white head. Aroma of citrus, slightly floral, and a bit of Belgian funk. Taste is sweet, citrus, honey. Light to medium body.

Better than I remember. Malty and spicy aroma. Light amber in color with a good head. Medium body and carbonation. Flavors are mild malty, some English character with graininess. Decent.

Flaska.

12oz bottle. Clear golden pour, initial white bubbly head which dissipates to nothing fairly quickly. Malty nose, some muted fruit (maybe apricot?) Curious graininess almost like some rye notes. Closer to a bitter or a lager..

Bronze copper in color. Pours with a tall head spicy aroma. Lot of malt fruit not an ipa. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Magic hat number 9 is a good damn ale - is it an ale, it's a mystery. Fruity and crisp. Makes me wonder what magic hat one thru eight tasted like... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
