Apricot flavouring
A Beer Cloaked in Secrecy An ale whose mysterious and unusual palate will swirl across your tongue and ask more questions than it answers. A beer brewed clandestinely and given a name whose meaning is never revealed. Why #9? Why, indeed. A sort of dry, crisp, fruity, refreshing, not-quite pale ale. #9 is really impossible to describe because theres never been anything else quite like it. Fermented with our 150 year old strain of top-fermenting English yeast.

By far Magic Hats worst offering. The apricot flavour is over powering.

If you know someone who doesnt like experimenting with beers, this is a good one to start off with. Light and fruity, this is a funky brew that can make any chick feel like trendy starlette.

Eventhough my rating is not glowing, I think this is worth a try. I am not a big fan of fruit beers, but this is an interesting one. It is not overly artificial tasting. I think if they used more hops (for both bittering and aroma) this could be good.

(Bottle) Must have got a bad bottle? Strange aroma... hops but some odd Hawaiian Punch additive. Pours copper with dissipated white head. Finishes dry. Average.

Not too impressed with this one. Tasted like a pale ale with a slight hint of apricots. Some apricots in the nose. Overall not too much goin on here.

I think they call this their IPA. Very bland and average. Its like the lite beer of craft beers. Im glad I didnt pay for it, the magic hat rep did.

Filter-bright golden orange with avg head. Dried apricot and bread crust aroma - like some toast with apricot ham. Slightly creamy, too-thick body. Comes across as a little starchy/pasty. Sort of a "good" version of Pyramids Apricot Ale - if such a thing exists.

12oz. bottle and on tap. Better on tap by far, though neither format offers an exceptional beer. Very light body and an underwhelming nose of seemingly artificial peach and apricot. The colour is reasonably pleasant but simply isnt backed by any substantial depth of flavour outside of a very faint note of nectarines/apricots, etc. All in all a weak drink hardly worthy of its purported "mystery."

This was an oddity. I think I got a bad bottle because I tasted no fruit. There was some wheatiness to it as well as some malt and hops. The pour was a clear orange with no head. Put this beer back in the magic hat and make it disappear.

[Tap, February 2007] Hazy yellow pour with small head. Aroma is floral. Flavor is heavily floral, very slight citrus. Altogether unrefined taste. Finish is bitter but not so much in the hop sense.
