Tap at brewery: Big hoppy aroma, but the body is overtaken by a dry bitterness without much malt backbone. Smooth and easy-drinking, but not what I'm looking for in an IPA. superman (13) - USA - JUL 22, 2003
Very nice IPA. Not outstanding, but always nice in a pinch. Never had a bad one. jwest (10) - Providence, Rhode Island, USA - JUL 18, 2003
Hoppy aroma, too bad the flavor doesn't live up to the promise. Good mouthfeel, but a little more carbonation would be nice. A well-intentioned IPA that could use a more complex hop character. The best Magic Hat brew I've tried. 1more4dessert (336) - Upstate, New York, USA - JUL 11, 2003
by far best from this brewer I have sampled. Beautiful golden hue, small head but good lacing. I am an IPA afficianado and this is a good one. Plenty of hops but not over the top. I love cascade hops! koatis (50) - Maryland, USA - JUL 4, 2003
Not overly impressed. Too light for an IPA. Fair hopping, but not even close to being worth the 8 bucks I paid for the 6-pack.

has that little creatures overwhelming lychee aroma. quite flat, in a good way. complex finish with some lemon barley lollies in there duff (5486) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JUN 27, 2003
The immediate aroma is of lychees. Quite floral. The moutfeel is softly carbonated, lightly citrusy and floral, with a touch of acidity. The flavour was less hoppy than the aroma suggested. A nice solid IPA, with a nice soft mouthfeel, enjoyable. egajdzis (6730) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 25, 2003
UPDATED: APR 29, 2004 Hoppy aroma. Taste wasn't as strong as most IPA's i've had recently. Bitter hops and oak was found in the taste. This was very refreshing though on a hot June day. fishonmyplane (505) - Newington, Connecticut, USA - JUN 24, 2003
Only a medium amount of hoppiness for an IPA, but they pull it off very well. There's definitely a hint of fruit along with the hops. There isn't much maltiness at all, but that's a good thing, as it lets the hops come through. Fairly light, and very refeshing-a good beer for the summertime. On a side note, it's a bit overpriced. Magic Hat's packaging is an annoying gimmick; if they would put out 12-packs and price them the same as, say, long trail or shipyard, then I might actually buy their beers more often. (Bottle) Orange/Amber body with a white head. Hoppy and orange nose. Super hoppy taste. So hopppy - I'll add anoth 'p'. Linguring bitterness. Very good.
