bottled - nice dark color. Slight hoppy sweet aroma. Flavor of a sweet stout with a bit of chocolate, coffee and caramel. Not bad. beerempire (4) - - NOV 20, 2016 does not count
Well, it looks nice. Not much of an aroma. Malty with a slight bit of caramel sweetness. I’m not getting much in the way of hops other than slight bitterness on the finish. Reminds me somewhat of a porter. OK but not a favorite.

Pours black with light brown head. A malt and grain aroma with hints of coffee. A coffee, roasted malt, hop and grain taste. A bitter hop and dry roasted malt aftertaste. Block (2722) - Indianapolis, Indiana, USA - OCT 9, 2016
A pretty cool beer in this IPA pack. Dark pour, some more malts. A little smoother with some darker flavors.

Bottle. Pours brown with a thin light tan head. Aroma of chocolate malt, dark roasted malt, dark chocolate, vanilla. Flavor of roasted malt, burnt malt, dark chocolate, bitter hops. Not super hoppy and IPA notes come in the form of bitterness rather than citrus like most black IPAs. Decent beer, pretty malty, more of a hoppy porter to me.

UPDATED: MAR 16, 2016 Backlog, early amateur rating! @ Havregatan 201209xx. Bottle from Systembolaget. Hoppy, roasted, sweet. Lawger (275) - SWEDEN - JUN 11, 2014
Pours black with dark beige head. Light aroma with some mushroom tones in the background and a slight chemical glue scent. Not much IPA-associations. Thin on the palate, still with an odd chemical note. Not very pleasant. rumproasts (5356) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - APR 4, 2014
bottle. hazy brown with small head. roast malt body, a little on the thin side. rather mild hops. not awful, but not really a black ipa either. koleminer20 (3591) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - MAR 12, 2014
12 oz bottle into a pint glass. The pour is dark brown, with a thin light khaki head and not much lace to be found at all. There is a lot of sediment that is seen floating through the beer. The aroma is some dark fruit, caramel, and a nice roastyness. There isn't any hop presence, and it smells like a bit of a porter. The flavor is definitely porter. There is a nice chocolatey roastyness on the front end and it moves through a nice caramel and dark fruit character. This tastes like a straight up. The mouth feel is thin, like an IPA should be, and the aftertaste is just a light roast. This is solid for a porter, not a black IPA.
