Bottle. Pours dark amber with minimal off white head. Aroma of mostly just malts. Taste of mostly just malts with a slight bitterness. Dacrza (994) - Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA - NOV 23, 2013
DATE TASTED: November 14, 2013... GLASSWARE: Howard’s Pub pint... OCCASION: Game of Thrones reading Thursday--chapters in the Vale... APPEARANCE: dark ruby red/black velvet body--another sinister-looking attempt from this mixpack; off-color lunar craters of head that holds thickness; laces well... AROMA: for Magic Hat, surprisingly straight-forward in its malty aroma; roasted toffee and some astringent chemical brine (the glass?)...PALATE: low to medium-bodied with little activity in the mouth; a bit creamy, but not lactic...TASTE: flattened maltiness with a lingering aftertaste; elusive hops make this a thin, drinkable profile; sessionable with a buttery finish...OVERALL: undoubtedly, this most straight-forward Magic hat I’ve had--nearly everything from these guys has an odd twist or turn to tis profile, but this delivers a true ESB approximation; a bit thin overall, but serviceable... mattern84 (5) - - NOV 9, 2013 does not count
Mild sweet hoppy aroma nothing special. Light copper color. Taste a little spice with smokey flavor snoworsummer (5746) - baltimore, Maryland, USA - NOV 3, 2013
From a bottle. Pours clear dark copper brown with a thin off white head. Tastes bitter and dry, like coffee and rye bread, with hints of tobacco. Nutty and hoppy. Low/medium body and medium carbonation. Smells creamy, nutty, and bready, with hints of alcohol.

Bottle. Pours clear, dark amber/copper with creamy beige head. Aroma is cookie and caramel malts, fig, dates, light spicy hops, and faint bready notes. Flavor is dry malts balanced well with smooth hop bitterness and faint dark fruit sweetness; dry finish with some light toasted nuttiness. Light body and medium carbonation. jcwattsrugger (12434) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - OCT 21, 2013

bottle. Pours a medium amber with a thin off-white head. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, and a hint of citrus hops. Taste is odd. Lacks the caramel maltiness noted in most Amber Ales. Roasted malts, citrus rind bitterness, and a bit of resin. Not balanced very well at all. Just a below average Amber Ale. Nothing exciting. Much like most Magic Hat brews. dliberto (217) - Hampstead, Maryland, USA - OCT 13, 2013
For an amber ale there isn’t much too special about this brew to give it more then an average score. Meh thedm (6222) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - OCT 5, 2013
This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of frothy finely sized light brown colored bubbles that were quickly diminishing and left behind a softly carbonated transparent red brown colored body and a fair lacing. The mild aroma was musty. The sharp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a mellow hoppy aftertaste. The semi-sharp flavor contained notes of Vienna malt mild rye plastic sweet candy crisp and hops. An OK brew just nothing special.
