A golden haze for a summer’s daze. Elder Betty is a weiss-style ale with a bready malt flavor balanced by a touch of hops and complimented by the tart berry flavors of elderberry.

16 ounce pint - $6.00 at Taco Mac in Canton, Georgia.

Appearance: Fairly cloudy appearance for a dark, dingy-looking, golden hue. Very small, near white head. Let’s jump on it, shall we?

Smell: Sets the tone of a modest base (wheat) beer to hold up the squirt of elderberry additive.

Taste: Sweetish taste of malted wheat with a crunchy granola bar accent and, then, the lightly tart elderberry flavor. Very low hops, near nil bitterness. Near dry, berry-hinted finish with some, thankfully, palate cleansing carbonation.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-plus carbonation.

Overall: Well, it’s better than Wacko. Elder Betty follows the tired, old fruit beer pattern -- bland to modest base beer (be it a blonde ale or something wheat-based) with a splash of flavoring.

Not bad. This is light and crisp like a summer seasonal should be. I find the flavor of the elderberry to come through in an appropriately subtle manner. Very interesting.

Bottle. Pours hazy golden thin white head. Aroma of bread, basement aromas, slight berries. Almost smells more like a pils than a wheat. Taste is medium sweet and tart. Primary flavor is the elderberries. Thin body, oily texture, average carbonation. Something different, just ok overall.

Poured from bottle. Aroma of blueberry muffin. Cloudy amber, white head. Nice berry and wheat mix. Just slightly tart, berry sweetness tastes quite natural. Nice job by the MH guys.

355mL thanks to maniac. Clear straw. No head formation. Aroma is thick sugar, old grape soda, sticky sugar, urinal cake. Taste is old Halloween candies and candy corn. Lots of artificial candies and treats. So gross. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clear yellow with no head. Awful syrupy maple and caramel with a sticky sweet finish. Really bad.

Shiny straw color with a golden shine and a little white head. Quite clear. Aroma is a toasty, slightly sour, malt. A littl wheat and sweet malth come through. Flavor is sweet malt, and a fairly clean feel. A bit sour and wheaty.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a hazy orange amber color. A ton of bubbles lead to a small foamy white head. Pleasant fragrant fruity malt aroma. Honeysuckle, berries and mango come to mind. Light refreshing tangy wheat malt flavor. Reminds me of a shandy, only less sweet. Some hop bitterness in finish, clean and crisp. A very drinkable summer brew. The elderberry makes it unique.

12oz bottle poured into glass. Not sure what type of berry they used here, elder I guess, but it smells a lot like a mix between blueberry and raspberry. Definitely a summer thats for sure. Not too bad but nothing really special.
