Fat Angel, rest his soul, had a complex palate that balances the rich pleasures of malt with the crisp refreshing flavor of hops with a finish that is fresh and clean. Eminently drinkable, Fat Angel brought divergent tastes together to create a satisfyingly smooth harmony.

Bottle - poured out with a thin white head. Sweet aroma; somewhat hoppy. First Magic Hat experience and Id have to say its a lot sweeter than I expected. Watered down Sweet & Sour flavor with a very subtle bitter finish. "Decent."

Aroma of piney hops. Appearance is redddish, like most pale ales. Persistent white head. The flavor is bitter, hoppy, and malty, and a little stale. The palate leaves a modest hop burn. Decent ale, not great.

UPDATED: SEP 9, 2008 I was a little disappointed with this from Magic Hat. Pours a copper color with a medium to thick white head and a decent amount of lacing on the glass. Some apricot, hops and overall sweet, as most Magic Hat beers are on the sweet side, with a bitter finish. There are plenty of other beers from Magic Hat that are much better.

Fat Angel by Magic Hat. What can I say? Its original and distinctivly different. Which is what Magic Hat is great at. Full bodied, sweet, malty, and complex. A great beer.

Glad I got to try it on tap at the brewery in Burlington before it was retired, even though it wasnt really a great beer. Anyway, it was served cold on tap. Poured medium brown and had an aroma of...I dont know, it was actually really weak. You could taste the hops alright but the malts werent all that present. It was an okay beer but certainly not Magic Hats best. It wont be sorely missed.

altogeather it was refreshing lightly hoppy and a bit watery. with adequate tastes it was decent. the malt was ok i guess and the beer was a weak interpretation of some of the good qualities of a pale ale (for an american brewer. for an english brewer it was quite flavorful and quite enjoyable for the lack of sweetness +2 points for that!)

To me this is very much like #9, with more complexity and a little stronger hop notes. Tastes like a pale ale with, hints of spice & orange. Overall a decent beer sorry to see its being retired.

You know, it was alright but not my favorite. 12 ounce bottle. Poured a medium dark brown if that makes sense. Not alot of head, no real lacing. Some hops, didnt really get the malt. It was alright but not the best. Maybe it should be retired.

It had a decent color and aroma but failed to get my attention as I drank it. It was mediocre and nothing seemed to make me think about it while I drank it.
