Raspberry Stout
In medieval times, the celebration of darkness and light was marked with great halls filled with smoke and mirrors. Gilded goblets brimming with seasonal brews were lifted to lips speaking a language no longer known. The present connects the past through the brewer’s art and a beer of utter darkness is born - Feast of Fools Raspberry Stout. Gather thy friendly fools for a round and celebrate the oncoming darkness with sweet ale and glee.

Pours translucent dark chocolate with a nice buff head. Aroma offers notes of roast malt, raspberry, chocolate, and a hint of molasses. Flavor features tart and sweet raspberry, roast malt, molasses, and a mocha underpinning. Mouthfeel has good body and fair fizz. Feast with fools!

Black pour with almost no head, just a ring. Aroma is nice blend of roasted malts, almost as if there’s some oats present, and a hint of chocolate. I was disappointed not to detect raspberry. Flavor is much similar. It’s good stuff - smooth and chocolaty, but really have to search for the raspberry. It’s a bit thin as well.

Chocolate brown appearance.. looks nice, very little head though. I smell chocolate, malt, with a hint of raspberry. Raspberry much more apparent on the taste then it is the aroma. Very smooth, just a hint of sour. It’s good.

Bomber, 2015 release. Very sweet raspberry aroma with roasted malt and some chocolate notes. Pours dark brown with ruby highlights with a moderate light brown head with good retention and excellent lacing. Starts with sweet raspberry flavor with a hint of chocolate as well as a thin body for stout. Finishes smooth with and bit of roasted malt joining the sweetness. While good, very thin bodied and the sweetness isn't balanced great with the chocolate and roasted malt.

On tap at Vermont tap house.
This was poured into a flared tulip.
The appearance was a dark ruddy brown color with no head due to a bar pour.
The smell had sweet and tart raspberries up front. Light cocoa and a decent blend of smoke comes in for the balance.
The taste was sweet with a touch of tartness from the raspberries to meld with the cocoa. Nice balance. Slight smoke again.
On the palate, this was rounded out to medium body with a tart to semi sharp
bitter to sour feel.
Overall, definitely a fruit beer on here since not enough oomph on the body. And definitely one of the better beers by this company.

22 oz bottle on markdown for $6.99 at Total Wine in Durham. Pours black with a fizzy brown head that dissipated pretty quickly. Aroma is faint chocolate with slight raspberry underneath. Taste up front is almost exclusively raspberry/fruity, with a lingering smokey sweet flavor afterward. Body is about average which is thinner than I like in a stout. Overall I wish the taste had more balance in it but it’s not a half bad effort by Magic Hat.
