2006 bottle at Monty’s Krown courtesy of Magic Hat rep. An absolutely excellent stout (at $45 per bottle). Pours dark as a good stout should with frothy tan head and moderate lacing. Aroma is rasberry and chocolate. Flavor dances on the tongue, with perfect flavor balancing of rasberries and chocolate malts. An amazing dessert beer. Top notch.

Bottle corked & caged. Pours dark black with a small tan head. Big raspberry & chocolate aroma. Flavor was sweet raspberries, dark chocolate and a hint of coffee with a nice dry finish.

Growler. Feb 2011. Close to black with beige head. Aromas of raspberry, cocoa, mint. Flavors of cocoa, raspberry, mint. Slightly dry finish. Medium-thin body with slick mouthfeel and moderate carbonation.

Had a sample at the brewery. Pours a deep dark brown with a very thin head. Taste is primarily raspberry with a bit of a malty backbone to give it character. It was really fizzy, making it hard to drink quickly or completely enjoy. Pretty decent offering, but not really my cup of tea.

Growler fill from the brewery. Black pour, small head. Aroma holds black cherries and sweet chocolate, like chocolate syrup. Flavor is more restrained, with a more bitter taste to the chocolate. Fairly light palate. Not bad! Certainly one of Magic Hat’s more interesting offerings.

Bottle. 2005 vintage. Tag says should have been consumed in four months. That said, pours black with tan head. Nose of strong raspberry, which dominates. Some chocolate malt and vanilla. Taste is raspberry and chocolate malt. Light body.

Thanks to stowehop for this one! I was told they just started brewing this again after several years. It pours an orange/brown color with a very large, and fizzy orange/brown head that disappears quickly. Very thin pour. The aroma has chocolate and raspberries. the flavor is very cola like with sweet raspberries in the back. Pretty thin and fizzy with just a touch of roasted malt and a slight earthy bitterness.

Aroma is pronounced raspberry syrup and chocolate. Just slightly off dry raspberry flavor. Dryer than I was expecting. Not great, but not bad.

(bottle - 750 ml) Dark black pour with a ton of tan foam. Surprising amount of carbonation for a beer this old. Aroma is sour raspberries mixed with roasted coffee and some chocolate. Flavor matches the aroma. Very big roasted flavor with a nice chocolate and coffee blend in the middle. The sour and tart notes of the raspberries come through and blend well with the stout.

750ml Bottle: Aroma of raspberries, roasted malts, and some chocolate. Poured black in color with a tiny brown head that disappeared immediately. Opaque. Flavor is lightly sweet. Tastes of raspberries, chocolate, and roasted malts. Light body. Thin texture. Flat carbonation. Sweet raspberry and chocolate finish. An infected bottle for sure! I’d like to try it again.

Thanks to HopHead84 for this one. Pours dark brown with reddish highlights, thin, light brown head, some lace. Smells very dark and red fruity sweet with some dark and slight roasted malts. Tastes sweet and red fruity, red raspberries and maybe cranberries, dark roast again. Medium body, good carbonation.
