Filled with the howling of black dogs that haunt the long forgotten shadows of the human soul.

Our inky-black stout had a smooth, round palate with a dreamlike undercurrent of bittersweet chocolate. This dense liquid-silk summoned hope from hibernation and balanced winter’s endless white snows with a rich swirl of creamy black rapture.

Aroma: Very malt forward, roasty aroma. I found the aroma to be very pleasant and exactly what I expected. Appearance: Very dark, almost perfectly black. There is slight residual lacing in the glass. Small tan head, which dissipated quickly. Taste: Excellent roasted flavors, just a touch sweet, but nowhere near too much. Finishes dry and leaves a slight lingering roasted flavor on the tongue. Very pleasant. Palate: Good medium carbonation, medium mouth feel. Exactly what I expected. Overall: This is not a complicated beer, but it is delicious. Exactly what I was looking for in a low ABV stout. I would definitely get this again. It’s not world class, but it’s very drinkable.

Large tan head faded fast and left decent lacing. Roasted malt aroma with hints of nuts and bitter chocolate. Solid, earthy, roasted malt flavors give way to floral hops in the aftertaste. Medium bodied, well carbonated mouthfeel with an average length finish.

Bottle. Moderate toasted and molasses for the malt, light herbs for the hops, moderate dough for the yeast, with a hint of vanilla in the background. Head is average size, frothy, light brown with good lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is very dark brown. Flavor starts lightly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes moderately acidic and bitter. Palate is medium, watery with a carbonation between lively and fizzy. A bit thin but still some solid Stout aspects.

12oz bottle poured into a tumbler glass. Black color with some clear burgundy hues and a small mocha head. Roasted coffee aroma, with earthy hops, dark chocolate and some carobs. Dark chocolate flavors, with some fresh coffee, soft licorice and medium bitterness. Medium bodied, well balanced, rich and satisfying. Nice.

Rich stout. Very dark colour. Smells of roasted coffee bean. Smooth toasty malt flavour with light coffee aftertaste. Significantly better than most Magic Hat beers ive had.

12 oz. bottle via trade with smith4498 - Pours a dark brown color with a two finger thick tan head. Nice layered lacing. Aroma is coffee, roasted malt, and light chocolate. Flavor is roasted malt with light coffee and chocolate. Light to medium body. Finish is thin and dry. This beer is kinda one dimensional. Still, it’s pretty good. Thanks Jason.

Bottle sampled at a tasting at our place. Thanks DSG. Pours purple-black with tan ring. Wood, a little dry and some raisins in the nose. Wooden, dry, bitter taste with hints of sweetness. Medium-to-full body, wooden finish. Fun!

UPDATED: FEB 10, 2014 Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a thick black color with a huge foamy dark tan head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was semi-sweet licorice, coffee, a bit of roasty malts and fruity hops. The flavor was dry, bitter and roasty with notes of coffee, licorice, floral hops and wood. Medium length finish of licorice, wood and roasty malts. Medium body. Disappointing.
