Filled with the howling of black dogs that haunt the long forgotten shadows of the human soul.

Our inky-black stout had a smooth, round palate with a dreamlike undercurrent of bittersweet chocolate. This dense liquid-silk summoned hope from hibernation and balanced winter’s endless white snows with a rich swirl of creamy black rapture.

12oz bottle pours black with a reddish brown head. Aromas of sweet malts a touch of roasted woodsyness some chocolate and cocoa and a bit of liquorice. Flavor is sweet but balanced with the roasted malt. Body is full and creamy. Finishes very creamy

Very dark, not much head. Aroma is faintly toasty with sour/metallic top notes. Taste is dry, roasty, and somewhat sour. Not great.

draft at Coles, black brown pour. Mild roast in the aroma with a touch of dark chocolate. Decent flavor of roasted malts, hint of chocolate with a lingering chemical finish. Slightly floral bitterness. OK

12 oz. Pours a dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, and a faint hint of vanilla. Taste is loaded with bittersweet cocoa and roasted barley. A bit thin. Bitter coffee ground finish.

Better than your average Magic Hat, certainly. Sweeter and more chocolatey than most comparable stouts. Smoother moutfeel as well. Has a velvety texture that’s pretty appealing.

Dry, burnt notes, and some chocolate milk. Good mouthfeel. Nothing to write home about, but Magic Hat normally can’t brew a drinkable beer to save their lives, and this isn’t at all bad.

Bulk_Carrier (6065) - Vermont, USA - JAN 13, 2013
It pours a pitch black giving the same color body. A full lumpy white one inch head appears and lasts for a good five minutes. The body is too dark for any carbonation to be seen rising. The smell has some coffee and chocolate up front but in good balance with a nice roastiness to it. The taste is basically the same with a dry bitter aftertaste and finish. The palate is about a medium, fairly creamy with nothing harsh on the tongue. It is mostly drinkable, probably could have several of these in a session. Overall, this is good for the style and good for me.

Bottle. Dark brown pour, light tan head. Cocoa, sweet malt, light roast, milk chocolate, and light hop bitterness. A decent stout, better than I thought it was going to be.

Sammer (1119) - Plano, Texas, USA - JAN 12, 2013
Bottle. Taste is weak coffee, dark chocolate, roasted nuts and cream. Smooth and very decent.
