From bottle. Rich, roasty, and tangy with coffee, molasses, soy, and smoke. Hearty nose with a bit of alcoholic sweetness. Dark black opaque with thin creamy tan lacing head. Medium body with medium-high carbonation, fizzy. Starts dry and roasty with carbonic tang and acrid smoky notes. Light sweetness but fairly dry with carbonic tang. Mild chocolate and coffee, with a hint of molasses.

Dark brown stout with a foamy off-white head. Smells of chocolate and malts. Taste is malts with light hints of spice or fruit. Goes down smooth. A very solid stout.

Westmeister (2127) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - JAN 29, 2014
Solid stout from the mix twelve pack. Dark, dark brown with ruby edges and a decent tan head that has some lasting power. Smell is mostly roasted with some dark semi sweet chocolate malts, earthy hops. Taste is dark chocolate, just a hint of dark fruits, roast, old coffee grinds, little earthy hops. LIngering finish, medium palate.

12 oz. bottle. Appearance: one finger of brown head that dissipates quickly, deep brown to black color, clear, Aroma: citrus, herbs, cereal, roasty, light chocolate. Palate: full body, oily feel, average carbonation, bitter finish. Taste: Sweet front with a chocolately bitter finish. Overall, a good beer, well balanced, and rather unique.

notalush (5955) - Lakewood, Colorado, USA - JAN 24, 2014
Pours a dark ruby with a soapy head - nose of roasty malt, light char, light chocolate - a little bland - light to medium body, low carbonation - flavor is fairly dry, moderately bitter, lightly charred, somewhat roasty - finish has some milk chocolate sweetness - a little bland, with kind of an acidic finish.

TATE (407) - Lubec, Maine, USA - JAN 20, 2014
Bottle. Pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma is coffee and molasses. A coffee flavor comes through for me along with chocolate. Lighter than I expected with a lot of sweetness from the malt. Just a little hop bite at the end. The roasted malt comes through as well, pretty smooth and overall very good.

Tap at Roasthouse Pub. Pours clear black with a medium, frothy tan head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is roast and chocolate malt, light coffee notes, leather, pine hops. Flavor is dark, lightly bitter malt, light hops and bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

MarkSachon (1062) - Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 19, 2014
12 oz bottle from Giant Eagle on Rte. 8 in Pittsburgh. More harsh than smooth, the bitterness of this beer overwhelms any advertised silkiness. I would have liked a smoother and sweeter taste for this one.

Not bad. Decent smoky aroma and toasty flavor. Probably won't drink it again unless it's the only thing offered.
