beerbastard (844) - Mesa, Arizona, USA - OCT 28, 2012
Poured very black. Coffee aromas. Flavors of coffee, burnt toast and licorice, nothing stood out. Little on the thin side. It lacked the amount of sweetness I would think that was necessary for this style. Dry astringent finish with a little sourness in the background. Nothing special.

Black w/ tall brown head. Roasty malt on the nose. Rich roasted malt, dark coffee, chocolate and earthy-woodsy notes. A solid stout.

DANEgerous (96) - Texas, USA - NOV 19, 2012
Deep black with very little red tinge when held to light and a tan head, sadly very little aroma so my hopes got down down the beer. Unfounded was my doubt it is a blast of bitter near burnt grain, toast, spices and even note of orange and anise.

The beer presented initially with a fizzy head, which sadly dissipated quickly. Had a weak malty aroma. Creamy/ hoppy palate with a hint of chocolate. Decent stout.

Not a big fan of Magic Hat but was pleasantly surprised by this stout. Nice chocolatey flavor with a silky finish.

3
Tac (157) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - NOV 3, 2012
Pours very thin brownish head which disappear wuickly. Aroma of chocolate, some coffee and toasted malt. Quite thick and bitter, not so smooth as for stout but not bad in general.

sawbuck (778) - Round Lake, Illinois, USA - NOV 4, 2012
Nice aromas of bourbon, vanila, dark chocolate and coffee. Ebony black with weak head. Nice intial flavors of chocolate and coffee....slightly dry. Finish is disapointing...harsh with too much biterness and lasts too long. Sweetness disapears too quickly.

Ataraxia (586) - California, USA - NOV 14, 2012
Dark brown with a beige head. Initial aroma of sweetened cocoa, quickly followed by mild notes of chocolate and roasted malts. Felt it was somewhat simple and thin in terms of body and texture. Little alcohol presence.

The aroma is burnt and toasted with chocolate coffee adjunct malt and cola. The appearance is brown with a tan head. The taste is like the aroma with a weak bitter finish. The palate is a but thin. Overall an average stout but ok.

Very black. Tan head. Burnt somewhat sweet. Flavor falls off palate. Nice balance of bitterness.
