Bottle. This a heavily malted beer. Hop notes not really presant. Not bad by any means. A decent offering. A little weak for the style however. OliverG (276) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 10, 2010
UPDATED: SEP 25, 2010 A solid malty larger with a chewy sweetness moderated by an earthy bitterness in the finish. Malt profile is similar to a Sam Adams Boston Lager, but with more caramel and less hop character. Nice balanced brew that would be great with a burger. Bottle at Bigelo’s Bistro. A medium brown with an off white soapy head that quickly dissipates. Not a bad beer at all. Nice fruit, spices that include pepper and cinnamon, and fairly rich malts. I had it with a spicy pizza which did not give the beer a fair chance. Still, it came through as a nice beer. TheBeerGod (6253) - Newport News, Virginia, USA - SEP 9, 2010
Bottle. Rusty amber with a minuscule, fizzy white head. Strong caramel and spicy hops in the aroma. Sweet fruit and malt as well. Taste is sweet malt, caramel, dried fruit, light berries and spicy hops. Body is medium with a soft chewiness about it. Carbonation is moderate. Finishes with more caramel, sweet malt, fruit, spicy and earthy hops, and soft nuttiness.

Pours an amber/orange, crystal clear with fizzy off-white head. Aroma has an unusual hop presence, faint cherry, light caramel. rougeau13 (3156) - Richmond, Texas, USA - SEP 8, 2010
Clear reddish color with a rapidly dissipating head. Decent sweet flavor, though a bit thin. It works like a Sam Adams Boston Lager, better than most beers in the average bar around here, but not a high choice where there is a decent selection. Overall, very average. Fresh 12 oz. bottle. The pour yields what appears to be a still body, with virtually no head or lacing. Lightly hazy, and a dark burnt-orange hue, the liquid sports no visible carbonation bubbles. Aromas are overly spiced, showing stong bubblegum, clove, and orange peel overtones amidst a malty caramel and bread base. Hops are very mild and floral in nature. Flavors follow suit, again rather boring and perhaps even a bit muddled. There’s almost a hefeweizen yeast thing going on, what with all the banana, clove, and bubblegum I’m getting. Baked bread crust and caramelized sugars remain the dominant components. In spite of the appearance, the palate actually sports an intensely lively carbonation that stings the tongue with its fiery dance. On the back end, the medium body transforms into a heavy, sugary coating. Not my thing. This is a pretty poorly done brew. Mora2000 (6158) - McKinney, Texas, USA - SEP 6, 2010
Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle.
The beer pours a light amber color with a white head. The aroma is strong toffee with not too much else. The flavor is toffee, earth and dirt. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Like a lot of beer from Magic Hat, the beer is average across the board. fluffy (2472) - St Petersburg, Florida, USA - SEP 6, 2010
i have to admit, i dont like most Magic Hat stuff, but this one is a standout. appearance is a gorgeous cloudy dark orange with a foamy head. aroma is mildly malty and grain. flavor is a little off kilter, like a oktoberfest lager mixed with a brown ale. again malty with a dark bready note. aftertaste is tangier than i was expecting. i could see buying a sixer of this.
