From bottle. Pots an opaque dark orangey amber colour. Unremarkable aroma, sweet toffee, maybe some dried oranges. Flavor is balanced. Initially lightly sweetened malts leading to bitterness. Nicely carbonated mouthful for once, bubbly without co2 flavor. Lie I said balanced but unremarkable brew, a solid effort. Fulkrum78 (175) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - SEP 24, 2011
Tasty! Pours a dark Amber with nice head that fades to light lacing. Aroma is of cherry and malt. Nice malt backbone and cherry flavor to balance. A different take on an Octoberfest and what I would expect from Magic Hat. gormanb (174) - Bowling Green, Ohio, USA - SEP 12, 2010
UPDATED: OCT 3, 2010 light caramel malt aroma, not much head to speak of. pours light amber. taste is nutty malt, roasted malt, caramel, finish is slightly sweet with smooth rye flavor. mackus2 (156) - Edison, New Jersey, USA - SEP 16, 2010
12 oz bottle. Pours an amber mahogany with a fluffy two-finger head that fizzles to a little white ring. Nose is nutty and maybe a little malty. Medium body but not too much flavor- nuts, malts, an itty bit of spice, but really just kind of watered down. Finish gives way to a little bit of hops and sweet malts. Definitely good for the style, but it’s just not really my style. DarkBeerChick (155) - San Antonio, Texas, USA - OCT 18, 2010
Pours a golden copper with minimal aroma (maybe a little fruity). Taste is herbal, medicinal. Tastes like a band-aid smells.

Not your classic Oktoberfest by any means. Subtle flavors and mild hops. Decent and easy to drink. someviking (132) - old bridge, New Jersey, USA - DEC 20, 2010
pours a pale caramel color that’s slightly cloudy. small head that seems to last awhile. aroma is malty caramel and is a little bit smokey. refreshingly crisp malt flavors up front but the finish leaves somethihng to be desired. a bit flat and musty. overall i think this is a pretty decent beer for magic hat.
