Yet another new fall offering from Magic Hat. Hex is sure drinkable, the flavors for this new Oktoberfest style beer are on the lighter side but they are there, just need to let it sit a bit and that is the hard part, its got a dry end to it so I find myself wanting to polish it off quickly. There are many malts going on here but there’s a subtleness to this brew that creeps up on you and it makes for a great session beer at this time of the year, right thru the fall. Give it some time, I still miss Jinx! sinkhole (263) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 24, 2010
Bottle. Pours amber with hints of orange and a good off-white head. Aromas of malts and caramels blended together with minimal spice. Taste is similarly sweet with slight hop bitterness found. A very enjoyable brew but mellow overall. Ibrew2or3 (8614) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - OCT 1, 2010
Pours clear copper with white head. The mild aroma seems to lightly swirl with notes of caramel, sweet malts, sugar coated red apple wedges, a touch of citrus cotton candy and some herbs. The taste is pretty rich with sweet caramel, sweet malts, stewed raisins, ripe red apples, spiciness and some yeast too. SanfordBrewer (1574) - Sanford, Florida, USA - OCT 5, 2010

Aroma: minerality, nobel hops, roasted malt.
Taste: crisp rye and some hop bitterness up front, lots of sweet malt and fruity yeast in the middle, and a bit of noble hop bitterness in the finish. Don’t really get any smoke in here, but there is a hint of cherry wood.
Nicely balanced, and quite complex. There’s a little bit of a lot of different flavors. There’s less minerality in the taste than in the aroma, and the sweet fruitiness counteracts it well. A nice sessional beer, that can pair with lots of different foods.
Appearance is amber with a thin head, hard medium body, and medium-high carbonation.
Aroma has a barnyardy funk that dissipates fairly quick, allowing some stony minerality and alcohol esters to emerge.
Flavor is stony minerality, sweet roasted malt, leafy hops. There is a subtle cherry note, but only faint smoke.
Overall, it is dominated by stony minerality, but has n interesting cherry pipe tobacco character.
very pale amber golden with a decent white head that fades quickly... slightly malty with notes of toastiness in the nose... A note of smoked meat, good semi sweet malty flavor, medium bodied... nice beer

Color is dark orange and cloudy with a sticky white head. Some fruity and malty aromas come through. Lots of carbonation, it’s smooth and creamy. Some sweet malt, rye, orange, and a nice hop kick at the end.
Reasonably tasty, quite drinkable. gregwilsonstl (2498) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - AUG 26, 2012

Bottle in NYC sept 2012. Clear amber beer with a small white head. Malty and dried dark fruits aroma. Hoppy and malty flavour. Alextricity (509) - Michigan, USA - MAR 20, 2013
Appearance: I got lazy and enjoyed straight from the bottle, but I Googled me a pic ... doesn’t look much like an Octoberfest. A bit light. Nice lacing in the bottle.
Smell: Well, it’s an amber. Not shy, and gets you with the malts. The hops are certainly in there, but you can get an idea of what kind of beer this is just from a quick whiff. Pretty good stuff.
Taste/feel: As an Octoberfest, it’s average. As an amber, it’s average. To me, this tastes quite a bit like Boston Lager, but missing a certain "oomph" that Sam Adams puts in that beer. This is still a pretty nice beer, and I wouldn’t mind having myself another. A nice bit of malts, and a refreshing beer all the way. I dig it.
