COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Perfect form with a smooth, malty opening line followed by a crisp, citrusy hop-filled second stanza. The final piece of its poetic existence is a dash of cool cucumber combined with the slightest of hibiscus tangs.

12oz bottle...wow - the cucumber over floral flavor with a surprisingly (and pleasant) bitter finish really wallops you across your beer drinking face. I like stuff that really pushes the boundaries of what beer is...and this one does it in spades. It is time to go off in some radically new directions form the very tired formula of ’more hops = more better’ and I love the assertive veggies/flowers in this one. The innovators will always be harshly criticized by the fundamentalists but new paths need to be blazed and the fear of the new needs to be overcome...well done Magic Hat...well done!

Bottle from Summer Variety Pack. Orange red pour. The aroma is wonderful and fresh with sweet flowery cucumber notes. Sweet malt up front, quickly turning to an abrupt, perfectly hopped, cucumbery finish. The hibiscus does indeed add a floral acidity. Surprisingly, doesn’t taste artificial at all. The cucumber flavor reminds me of a mexican style cucumber agua fresca. A great, underrated summer beer.

Strangebrewer (1298) - Chatham, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 7, 2013
bottle. Poured clear dark copper with an initially large beige head that settles to a thin layer. Aroma is sweet, citrusy, malty, with a hint of cucumber. Creamy carbonation, a mellow mouthfeel with a tart kinda astringent finish. Flavour of almost burnt malt with some sour orange, and a pepper note.

The HiCu pours a mostly cloudy yellow orange with a thick foamy off-white head that lasts a long while and leaves excellent lacing. The aroma is very vegetable heavy. The flavor is cucumber and the hibiscus standing out with little surprise. Overall this is a decent beer. I believe they achieved what they were going for but you have to be in the mood for a vegetable beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Capone’s. Pours coppery with dark straw edges and a finger of frothy off-white head. Nose is big cucumber, caramel malt, florals. The cucumber nose is authentic. Tastes refreshing, with a cucumber flavor up front, a crisp hopcitric middle, and some caramel malt in the finish. This one is nice.

12oz into a tulip. This beer grown on you. Comes across as offputting at first, not often you get to endulge in a cucumber beer, what the hell is this? but then it settles for what is, which is a refreshing, relaxing vegtable beer perfect for the summer heat, next to a garden or in one is optional. Color is a medium orange and rust, taste is cucumber, minerals, and soil. Head is a fizzeld mist. Aroma is garden vegtable and cucumber. Nice to see an offering like this in their summer variety pack, good for you Magic Hat.
