COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hi.P.A. is a medium-bodied groove with a fresh and fruitful nose of tympanic temptation. It begins and ends with a big hop bite that is itself forever balanced on the brink by a steady rhythm of malt. Dry-hopped for extra quenching in the face of heat and beat, it’s an ideal accompaniment to chilling out, turning inward or sailing onward through the music of the night toward the dawn of the mind. It’s the liquid way to say be here now lest you never come this way again.

slowrunner77 (11917) - Reno, Nevada, USA - AUG 24, 2015
A piney and citrus IPA more on par with an average pale ale than a good IPA.

shrubber85 (11324) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - OCT 13, 2012
Bottle. Orange/caramel malt and orange peel aroma. Golden yellow color with large white head. Sweet orange-caramel malt and lightly bitter orange peel hops flavor. Very good.

3.3
hopscotch (11049) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 21, 2004
Crystal clear golden ale with a small, fizzy, white head. The nose is of grapefruit, apricot and toffee. The well-balanced flavor is moderately bitter and decently malty. Medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Lengthy, bitter, grassy finish.

Bottle. Pours a very hazy orange amber color with a medium beige head that falls off rather quickly. Lots of little sediment in here, though most of it is obscured by the near opacity of the beer. Burnt grain/nut smell on here that is a bit off putting. Some sweet candy and malt smells, but not too much citrus. Light and a little yeasty with a little tang to it. Finishes with a bit of a bitterness, but not much. If I had this blind I don’t think I’d peg it as an IPA. It’s a tolerable beer, but not one I’d really want to drink again, and not one I’d want to drink if I wanted an IPA. No hoppy citrus/pine nose, no big grapefruit bitter… just a lot of let down. Ended up dumping most of this. Not worth finishing.

DocLock (10652) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 13, 2004
Pours slightly turbid dark straw with a medium, creamy white head, some floaties, and moderate lace. Aroma of hops, malt, fruit, pine, spice. Tastes hoppy, with some malt, fruit, and spice hints. Palate is medium, with a slightly dry finish. Not quite as balanced as I crave with IPAs, but very good nonetheless.

BVery (10327) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - OCT 19, 2010
Bottle. Orange pour with a thin clingy white head. Huge floral hop aroma with a little fruit. Juicy taste dominated by floral/citrus hops. Really remarkable at how hoppy the aroma and taste is, but the bitterness doesn’t really linger or tear your head off. Very well made.

jercraigs (10303) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 6, 2004
Amber colour, with a nice white head and some excellent lacing. Big foresty (not really pine) hop aroma. Nicely bitter, my initial assessment was that it lacked enough malt to back it up, but subsequent samples later at the Mondiale change my assessment which earned it another point for the flavour. Finish is a touch on the thin side but not so much as to be overly distracting. Very nice beer. Mondiale 3T (Radek/Tiggmtl).

KyotoLefty (10197) - Kyoto, JAPAN - APR 17, 2013
Bottled. Bright golden color with lace. Lemony nose, light bread, Sprite. Lemony flavor with light malts, nice bitter finish. Light and clean. Decent enough.

3.5
GT (10000) - San Diego, California, USA - JAN 27, 2009
355 mL. Pours a hazy light amber with a good two-finger, tan, fluffy head with great lacing. Very nice aroma of citrus hops, orange peel, peaches, and some caramel malt. Taste is nutty and buttery with some grapefruit and orange peel alongside skunky malt and stale hops. Dry hoppy finish with lots of peaches. Not bad. Unusual.
