COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hi.P.A. is a medium-bodied groove with a fresh and fruitful nose of tympanic temptation. It begins and ends with a big hop bite that is itself forever balanced on the brink by a steady rhythm of malt. Dry-hopped for extra quenching in the face of heat and beat, its an ideal accompaniment to chilling out, turning inward or sailing onward through the music of the night toward the dawn of the mind. Its the liquid way to say be here now lest you never come this way again.

DATE TASTED: November 17, 2013... GLASSWARE: Kisatsky Tavern pint... OCCASION: one sink leak fixed--tomorrow, the toilet unclogs!... APPEARANCE: golden yellow body--quite light (and bright!) for an IPA--and a thick milky white head; equally thick, cirrus wisps of lacing... AROMA: quite a fragrant floral bouquet with banana, clove and citrus zest--attractive and yet appropriate (!) for an IPA... PALATE: a bit acidic late, but overall a drinkable, persuasively medium-bodied ale that sits well in the mouth...TASTE: immediate punch of mango and peach gives way to pinecone; a comfortable, fruity, fittingly rewarding profile...OVERALL: The fall beers in this mix pack fall short, but the IPA wins out as distinguishing and desirable--this will b e my Magic Hat go-to in the future...

12oz. bottle - pours clear gold with a big white head on top that leaves excellent lacing in the glass. Lots of citrus in the aroma along with a sweet malt background. Pretty standard characters of an American IPA, but this is very fresh in the nose. Flavour is equally fresh and clean...crisp. Grapefruit, orange, pine, blah blah, you know...nice herbal, bitterness in the finish. Nothing surprising here, but this may be one of the more satisfying regular US IPAs Ive had. Very thirst quenching and smooth. I love it.

Six pack from Total Wine in Huntersville, NC. This was a very good IPA. Beer pours a somewhat cloudy gold color with a little head. A floral aroma with a touch of hops, and the taste is great with the usual bitter IPA finish. As I said, a nice IPA.

Hippies and brewers dont necessarily walk on the same side of street, but in Vermont the folks at Magic Hat prove that theory as bunk. Magic Hat is a very prolific brewery; I have always admired the number of styles they brew and the sincere craft and love evident in their brews (like em or not). Hi.P.A., Magic Hats take on the IPA, is a solid, well done take on the very, very popular style. Nice amounts of bitterness on the palate with a good floral aroma. A beer that is true to the style.

I call ratebeer.com penalty for under-rating a beer based on it not being ridiculous with hop bitterness or alcohol content. This is a really well balanced, tasty IPA and it deserves better. Shame.

A clear dark blond becomes cloudy in the glass as it effortlessly erects an inch of peak-forming head that is reluctant to dissipate. Pine and lily on the nose; well balanced and not overwhelming. In the mouth a direct attack of bitterness at the sides of the tongue, lingering and developing for a good time; changing from Pine to spice to cut grass. The resiny hops are well balanced by biscuit malt nonetheless. Too bad it doesnt have the full funky skunk that justified its name back in 2006. Overall very good.

from Mondial de la Bire, Strasbourg - cloudy dark blond colour with a little persistent white foam, nice lacework; a fair hoppy aroma of apricot and litchies; light notes of candi sugar; full-bodied and sticky palate, astringent and very tasty, a solid bitterness, very fruity hoppy finish (apricot, oranges and quinces) - very nice!

Smells strong, more like a double than a single IPA. The color is nice orange. Im glad there were 3 of these in the 12 pack because I wasnt convinced after the first two. This is actually pretty decent. Not anything extraordinary but certainly a satisfying IPA.

12 oz bottle from the Fall Harvest sampler case. Not as crazy about this one as everyone else but it was okay in its own right. Still had some issues with the perfume aftertaste that seems common to Magic Hat.
