COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our take on the classic summer wheat beer...it’s a light, crisp ale for mowing lawns, hitting lazy fly balls and communing with nature. Glowing like brilliant rays of golden sun, its malty sweetness finishes tart and crisp. Hocus Pocus is best appreciated with a wedge of orange. Offered as a sacrifice to cloudless days.

UPDATED: JUN 27, 2006 I am a wheat fan but only moderately fond of this brewer - and tend to be rather leery of American Wheat as a style. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a clear pale yellow color with only a trace of a white head that fades instantly. The aroma is faint malts and faint hops. The flavor is light malts and a hint of banana. A rather poor wheat.

[email protected] i thought magic hat would come up with a better wheat than this. i assumed it was an attempt at a wit as it was pale, slightly hazy, lightly lemony with some nasty traces of laundry detergent in the finish. thin and boring

Blind rating, bottle. Head is initially small, frothy/fizzy, white, fully diminishing. Body is dark yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly hoppy (grapefruit), lightly yeasty (dough). Flavor is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Not much going on to talk about.

Bottle Pours out a yellow topped with a white head. Aroma of wheat and malts. Tast of grain and a touch of hops at the end.

Bottled. Poured cloudy lighter golden with a tall, creamy, sticky white head. The aroma picked up bright earthy wheat and orange zest, with faint undertones of band-aid.. smelled like it was going to be drinkable. The flavor found tart wheat, orange zest, and white spices throughout.. honey and generic pale malts supported.. tangy finish with orange rind and residual grainy sugars. Light-bodied with fairly high carbonation on the palate.. tangy and engaging in spots, but too many grainy sugars in others.. overall very drinkable, but not necessarily good.

12 oz. bottle from mix 12 pack. Pours a slightly hazy gold. Nose is lots of wheat and grain. As it gets real warm I noticed a lot of honey aroma’s as well. The flavor is identical to the nose. I feel this is rated really harshly. It’s a bit better than some ratings imply. Yes, it is simple and light bodied, yet really refreshing with decent flavor. This bottle was still in code, so still fresh. I have NO problem finishing the other bottles.

Lightly sweet and golden with some citrus flavor and spice. Refreshing, but thin. Still a good American wheat.

On tap @ Coles Buffalo NY. Medium to light golden color. Honey, sweet & grassy aroma & taste. Easy drinking summer beer.

Bottle (12oz). And I promised myself no more goddam american wheat swill. Pale slightly hazy gold, decent bright white head. Aroma of light sweet grain and dried flower hops, a hint of fruit and yeast, but not much at all. Taste of light candy malt, a little sour grain, mild yeast and candied citrus fruit - sort of hard to swallow for some reason. Thickish, still body, sticky mouthfeel - weird, not awful, won’t have it again.

Bottle: Straw color, fairly clear, thin sudsy white head, fairly decent lacing, light carbonation.   Pale wheaty nose, slight citrus zing, seems semi-sweet, a little musty or barnish as well.   Sweet grass/straw on the tongue, tangy, minor sweetness, but falls off fairly quickly.   Body and mouthfeel are average.   Semi-sweet wheaty finish, but its fairly soft and subtle.   Clean, but not as big as its counterparts.   Needs more umph.   Thanks Dan!
