A nice surprise from a generally good, not great, brewer....................
UPDATED: JUL 13, 2017 Tap at the Foundry in Pittsburgh, as ‘Bob’s First Ale’. Dark rotted copper brown with a short white head. Very dry taste, grainy, somewhat malty, woody, low caramel and bitterness. Medium-full body, textbook for style, hint of apple juice. No nose to speak of there. Just what I expected. Bottle back in the Jerz is identical (props for quality control, I guess?). [2017.07.13: 3.1]
Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a clear red amber color with a medium sized white head. The aroma is sweet malt. The taste is malt and a bit of hops. however it has a very watery taste and feel. Cybercat (6334) - Georgia, USA - MAY 17, 2017
Had as Bob’s 1st. Pours clear cinnamon with a nice light tan head. Aroma features toasted malt and hints of apple and caramel. Flavor ups the fruit component and rounds out a very satisfying ale. (So why doesn’t Bob’s 1st have a separate entry?) Mouthfeel presents decent body and good fizz. BrewBoxer (2667) - New York, New York, USA - APR 30, 2017

Pours a brownish red almost identical to the color of the bottle it came in. Tan frothy head with good lacing. Aroma of syrupy malt. Taste is sweet but mellow with an earthy offset of bitterness. The mouthfeel is smooth.

Bottle, as Bob’s First Ale. Clear dark amber with small foamy off-white head, faint caramel aroma, medium carbonation, malty taste with some roastd malty/toffee flavor, smooth body, medium caramel finizh. Not bad, not great either. shrubber85 (11706) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - APR 8, 2017
Bottle (Bob’s 1st Ale). Sour milk, nutty toffee malt, and fresh hay aroma. Amber with large off-white head. Moderately sweet nutty toffee malt and mildly bitter fresh hay flavor. Okay body. A decent, straight-forward beer. Bricks (1160) - Delaware, USA - APR 7, 2017

Bottle from Bert’s
Crystal clear deep golden with a hint of red and a tightly bubbled off white head that dissipates slowly. Rich caramel malt and earthy spicy citrus hops to counter. Tasty beer that reminds me of the craft beer from the 90’s.
