A nice surprise from a generally good, not great, brewer.

Reddish to amber color, very smooth on the palate with a malty finish. I recommend this for people who don't like the bitterness of a hoppy beginning (or should I say appreciate). Excellent drinker no surprises another staple from Magic Hat.

I found this brew to taste more like a brown ale than anything else. has a very nice smokiness to the smell and taste. So far, this is the best of the Magic Hat brews that I’ve had. Overall...this IMHO is tastier than the Blind Faith and the Fat Angel. Get yourself a case you on’t be dissappointed!

Matly aroma. Dark brown color. Decent lacing. The finish is so clean you can't tell if you just drank some. In the end, it's a good but not very satisfying beer.

Glass. This is one of Magic Hat's better offerings, truly a great Irish Red style beer. Appearance is deep red, almost opaque. Mild hoppish aroma is indicative of the quality of flavors to come. Mouthfeel is milky at first, with a clean water finish. Consistent with Magic Hat offerings, this has their signature, though more subdued, fruit flavor. Also present are other non overbearing maltish flavors, all with a very slight roasty touch: caramel, coffee, tobacco, with a slight rasberry type flavor. Overall, this is a tasty beer that I've returned to, and will again!!

UPDATED: JAN 13, 2003 I"ve always liked Irish reds, and this one is no exception. A nice, well-balanced beer, with plenty of body, but not too heavy or bitter, more malty than hoppy. Bob"s 1st is Bob"s best, I happen to think.

Out of the bottle it’s merely very tasty. On tap with the creamy finish it’s absolutely heavenly. I suppose more cascade hops couldn’t hurt but find a bar that serves it on tap and you’ll have a tough time leaving. By far the best of the magic hats.

The first time I had Humble Patience was on tap, and I absolutely loved it. Great creamy texture, great musky flavor. It has a nice hop quality to it, but isn’t very bitter. In the bottle is a disappointment. If you look at the bottled version in and of itself, it isn’t a bad beer. However, it pales in comparison to the tap version.
