26 oz bottle. Dark brown with a tannish head. Nose is smoke with hints of coffee and molasses. Silky medium body with a faint tingle. Taste is caramel, coffee, cola and smoke. As it warms more fruity with raisin and plum, the sweetness helping to balance the smoke. smith4498 (3649) - Winter Springs, Florida, USA - FEB 11, 2013
Pours dark brown color with tan head. Aromas of lightly smoked malts with some chocolate. Moderately smokey flavor with some sweet milk chocolate. Medium body with average carbonation. Decent but not a serious smoked beer. A smoked beer with training wheels. DocLock (10721) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 20, 2012

Bottle. Pours a clear brown body with a one finger tight bubbled beige head that faded to a thin film. The nose is decently smoky with a heavier emphasis on the Porter qualities. Rather chocolaty with cocoa nibs, light coffee, and a little roast. The flavor is just lightly smoky, a bit on the sweeter side with a lot of chocolate malt. I wish it were a bit smokier. Finishes with a sweet chocolate note that sort of overpowers the smoke. Medium bodied, a bit clingy, with soft fizzy carbonation. Not a bad beer, but for the style it doesn’t hold up in the smoke department. aplus01 (71) - North Carolina, USA - FEB 8, 2013
Aroma was very subdued smoke over roasty malt. Appearance: dark, almost no head. Taste was dominated by roasty malt character, little smoky flavor, bitterness keeps malt from being too sweet. Overall a good porter with a very small amount of smoky flavor, but nothing noteworthy. ROGUE (2215) - Lewes, Delaware, USA - SEP 17, 2013
On tap at tasting. Pours a dark black color with a two finger tan head. Aroma of smoked and roasted malts, peat, vanilla. Taste has lots of dark caramel upfront with notes of smoke, along with a bit of clove and molasses in the middle with a finish of toast and caramel. Medium to thick body and light carbonation. dfinney23 (3360) - Houston, Texas, USA - MAY 26, 2015
Lightly smoked, which is just another way of saying "not smoked enough". I mean, if you’re going with flames and the label and a name like "burn pile" the smoke should be more than just subtle and complimentary. That or use a better base beer. shrubber85 (11448) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - NOV 22, 2012
Bottle. Smoke, lactic chocolate and coffee malt aroma. Very dark brown with minimal head. Wood smoke, chocolate malt and mildly bitter herbal flavor. Okay.
