Lightly smoked, which is just another way of saying "not smoked enough". I mean, if you’re going with flames and the label and a name like "burn pile" the smoke should be more than just subtle and complimentary. That or use a better base beer. italarican (1606) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 7, 2012
Bottle shared while discussing some specifics for an upcoming Arrested Development costume party. Pours a surprisingly thin caramel brown with creamy eggshell head. Aroma has mild notes of smoked wood and caramel with some creamed corn. Flavor is more smoky than porter-y. Slight meatiness with mild nutty malt. Thin body with light carbonation. Thin meaty finish with some graininess and more creamed corn. An ok smoked beer than could be a bit cleaner and/or more robust. beerbuzzmontreal (3486) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 27, 2012
Pours a black color with a medium beige head. Average aroma of slightly smoked and roasted malt. Average flavor of smoked and roasted malt with a mild bitter finish. The body is light with a creamy texture and soft carbonation. Not bad, but very forgetable. shrubber85 (11618) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - NOV 22, 2012
Bottle. Smoke, lactic chocolate and coffee malt aroma. Very dark brown with minimal head. Wood smoke, chocolate malt and mildly bitter herbal flavor. Okay. reggiedunlop (3726) - The dub c, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 25, 2013
Pours dark brown with minimal tan head. Aroma is smoky with a metallic hint. Flavor is roasty/smoky with super smoky creeping in...no medicinal/band aid though. Mouthfeel is light/medium with a very smoky dry finish.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks YK23 & eyes_wide_shut. Very dark brown to black with a beige head. Aroma of dark chocolate, smokiness and some licorice. Sweetish flavor with smokiness, chocolate, a bit of caramel, licorice notes and a dry finish. Medium-bodied. alobar (3915) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 4, 2015
Pours dark cola brown with minimal head. Aroma of milk chocolate, caramel, roasted malt, and hint of smoke. Sweet flavor upfront with chocolate and caramel with roasted malt, and touch of smoke. Thin body. Decent beer. EvanFriend (632) - Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 8, 2012
Kinda tastes like burnt chocolate milk. No real smokey flavor, just burnt. Not completely horrible, but not great either. I suppose this is about as good as you can expect from Magic Hat. I was disappointed. Patrickctenchi (6732) - Cox’s Knob, columbus, Indiana, USA - JAN 15, 2013
Pours nearly black with red accents. Small tan head.
Aroma is cola, smoke, chocolate.
Taste is wood smoke, coffee, malt.
Sweet, porter-ish with light smoke.
Just ok. swoopjones (7020) - Buffalo, New York, USA - JAN 26, 2013
draft at Coles, black pour, chocolate notes, light smoke, roasted maltiness. lighter mouthfeel, smoke content would fall short of a true smoked beer. Not overlysmoked but its better than I thought it would be. ok
