Bottle from VT. Pours into glass with a big white frothy head. A deep golden clear brew. Sweet bready aromas. Flavor is complex and malty with good hop balance. Body is heavy, but after a while this gets very smooth. Goes down well, but packs a mean punch. Lingering bread-fruit flavors. Not too sweet. ABV is well hidden. Bottle, caged and corked. Deep, dark gold-bronze pour. Thin but sudsy head. The aroma is simply big, sweet and biscuity. The beer drinks thusly. Rich with a definite alcohol presence, thickly malty and bready. Good stuff though. (#5424, 2/2/2014) hypn0toad (267) - Maryland, USA - APR 26, 2012
Sweet smelling. Tasty tasting. A very pleasant experience. I like the bottle too. I had no idea the magic hats would make something like that. Lets be honest, I’ll never see this beer ever again anywhere. I won’t probably even remember it in a week. But I have enjoyed the experience. I hope we cross paths again in the future. superspak (6222) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - DEC 3, 2012
750 ml bottle into pilsener glass, bottled in Spring 2012. Pours very hazy golden amber color with a nice 2 finger dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of lemon, pear, biscuit, nuttiness, orange zest, herbal, floral, light pepper, grass, and earthy spiciness. Some nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and decent strength. Taste of lemon, pear, pepper, bread, cracker, floral, pine, light nuttiness, light citrus zest, grass, and herbal spiciness. Good amount of spicy pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of light fruits, cracker, bread, light nuttiness, pine, citrus, pepper, floral, grass, and herbal spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Good balance and complexity of flavors with big hoppiness; fair amount of malt balance; and a fair amount of cloying spicy pine bitterness after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy, slick, and crisp mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Definitely a sipper with all of the intense hop flavors. Overall this is a nice imperial pilsner. Good flavor complexity and solid balance; and quite smooth to sip on. I enjoyed this quite a bit, despite the cloying hop bitterness. milewide (2332) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - DEC 11, 2013
Cloudy amber color. Good head and excellent body for a pilsner! Fine blend of malt and hops. $6.99 at Costco.
