22-ounce bottle pours shiny dark ruby, nearly opaque. No head. Aroma: figs, dates, raisins, prunes, plums, molasses, brown bread, carmelized brown sugar, toffee, caramel. Flavor: all of the above, times 10! Very sweet, though, perhaps cloyingly so (typically a Belgian quad is a bit less sweet and drier on the finish). Mouthfeel: rich and very slick on the tongue.

22oz. bottle: This one pours a murky brown color. There was a thin tan head that didn’t last long. The aroma is good, but a little light for a quad. Notes of figs and other dark fruits. Lots of malts, but not much sweetness and no alcohol to the nose. The taste is good. Malty, some breadiness and yeastiness, dark fruits. Some sweetness. Tasty, but not quite as flavorful as some other quads.

Poured into a chalice, the appearance was a mostly dark red close to brown color with a thin quickly dissipating cap of a white fizzy head. Slightly forms valleys here and there in what’s left of the head. The aroma has some dates, figs, plums, Belgian sugars, brown sugars, subtle milk chocolate, light bready notes and caramel malts. Subtle spices of coriander and sage. The flavor leads with semi-sweet with an embracing sticky malt bill of the previously mentioned sweet aromas. Quick crisp toasty to caramel malt aftertaste with finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium in body with a decent sessionable feel about it. Carbonation felt fine as it is. A bit smoother than expected for a so called-quad. Overall, Belgian dark strong ale is what I would classify this as. It seems to lose some of its gripping expected Belgian throaty feel in the back of the throat. But Magic Hat has brewed much worse, this one is not bad at all. I could see myself drinking this again.

Pours a hazy brown-red with little head. Has a sweet caramel malt aroma. A sweet malt taste with caramel, candy and light dark fruits. A licorice and sweet malt aftertaste.

Bottle from Brewtopia. Dark brown with lasting ring and a little lace. Fruity fig date brown sugar maple syrup and booze aroma. Sweet fig raisin brown sugar maple syrup cherry with mild (slightly too mild) woody piney tobacco bitterness in boozy finish. Medium full body and beautiful soft palate. Very good.

From the 650 ml. bottle. No date on the bottle. The pour is a reddish amber with a short-lived small head. An array of aromas including dark roasted and sweet malts, figs, dates, raisins, and other dark fruits. No alcohol. The body is medium to full. The taste has a lot of the same sweet and fruit dark malts with a warming sensation on the back end.

22 oz. bottle. Poured into a snifter. Pours a muddled mahogany with a one finger off white head that recedes to a ring. Lots of raisin, date and fig on the aroma with weak Belgian yeast and a sweet smelling candied sugar. Taste is sweet featuring all the above along with some vanilla. If there are any hops here they are the earthy variety. Medium bodied. Pretty good, but not great.

Pours dark ruddy brown with thin tan head. Aroma has malty notes in the background of an overwhelming metallic smell. Fortunately this isn’t much present in the flavor, with a nice mix of ripe fruits, bready malt, and candi sugars taking over. Slightly sweet, but that’s okay with me. Finish is pretty smooth, inviting more. Not bad, but the smell is disturbing.
