One of my favorite Magic Hat beers. I like the smokey aspect of it, but it needs to have more hop character to it to be a great beer. It’s pretty complex but needs to be cleaner as well.
Pours a crisp bright golden yellow color. Aromas of peat, moss, and vegetables. Flavor is metallic vegetable tasting. Watery, sweet finish that was gone in a second. BeAndrews (30) - Barrie, Ontario, CANADA - APR 17, 2015
Pours a clear bubbly dark copper with a small diminishing white head. Nice smoky malt aroma, reminds me of whisky, along with some toffee and hops. The flavour, even though it’s a mild version of a Smoked beer, is still pretty good. It’s malty with some smoke, sugar and a little whisky. hman43 (1544) - Pinehurst, North Carolina, USA - DEC 27, 2014
It pours amber with a light tan head. It has a roasted aroma with hints of nuts. It has flavors that are sweet which include caramle, roasted elements, and smoked flavoring. The lacing is moderate. It has a semi dry finish with a hint of cherry. Ed5388 (3448) - Forked River, New Jersey, USA - DEC 15, 2014
12oz bottle from Crossroads. Poured a clear Amber color with a small foamy off white head. Aroma of sweet wort, toasted grain, and hints of scotch malt. Taste is grainy, with old citrus fruit, and hints of scotch malt. ajtrupp (340) - Broomfield, Colorado, USA - NOV 29, 2014
Some of the flavors are there, but it's a pretty thin beer without much body. Not horribly complex or memorable.

Aroma is light smoked malt, so faint that it takes a hard snort. Light brown and pale. Large scotch bites paired with an English ale. The taste is good. The palate is better. A great campfire beer. MartinVanBeer (116) - Little Rock, Arkansas, USA - OCT 24, 2014
Thin but dense white head. Aroma is old bread, yeast, and some raisin. Kind of a lot of carbonation for this style. The flavor is fairly bland with some small notes of banana and hay. I get almost no smoke. I like Magic Hat, but this is not my favorite brew from them. However, it is very drinkable, and I think I would enjoy it in the woods next to a camp fire. Appearance: translucent golden brown color with crew colored head, about an inch head when poured and dissolves and a medium pace
Aroma: not too strong of an aroma, malt
Taste: malty, smoke, more flavor at end but not the most flavorful beer
Palette: light bodies beer, small bitterness at end but not potent
Overall: I have had better the flavor is not complex

Aroma: Hints of yeast with caramel malts, but it’s all very faint.
Appearance: Bright amber with a nice tan head.
Taste: Light sweetness balanced by a light sourness.
Palate: Medium body, slick oily texture, soft carbonation, long finish.
Overall: Not a fan. I’m not sure what they were going for with this beer, but it certainly isn’t working. akoeninger (749) - Wisconsin, USA - OCT 10, 2014
Brownish amber color. Sweet, earthy, and yes a hint of smoke. One of the more enjoyable offerings from Magic Hat that I've had. Full bodied and rich. A decent scotch ale and a good fall beer.
