2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
(12oz bottle, courtesy of Swalden28) Pours a brown body with a small cream head. Aroma of roasted malt, light smoke, cranberries, and subtle artificial cherry notes. Flavor of roasted malt, herbs, bitter cranberries, and mildly acidic balsamic.
11/1/2009. Bottle from a mixed seasonal case. Brown with a thin head. Odd aromas and flavors are just bitter and sour without any balance at all. Not sure what they were trying with this one, but close to not drinkable at all. cakanator (452) - South Hadley, Massachusetts, USA - NOV 15, 2011
12oz bottle, from notes. Ah remembering the worst that Magic Hat offers. I saw that they were attempting a sour and chuckled. Pours out a pale medium yellow color. Aromas are off putting and metallic. Palate is jumbled and messy with some sort of woody harsh tartness. Too light to get any flavor from. A horrid beer. johnnnniee (4343) - Bedford, New Hampshire, USA - MAY 27, 2011
I picked up the 12 pack so I could try this one.
Pours a slightly hazy reddish brown with a thinnish beige head that dissipates quickly. Smells of prunes, cherries, brown sugar, sweet malts. Really doesn’t smell like anything sour or wild. The taste is sweet with dark fruits, cherries and apricots come to mind. There is a tart character to the beer, but its more like tart fruits than anything wild. This almost reminds me of #9 but darker and more apricots. Tart citrus flavors start to come out as it warms. Medium body and carbonation. Yup another mediocre brew from Magic Hat. Drinkable, but really nothing special.

Why, why, why would you do this to anyone? This is a terrible, terrible beer. Just absolutely disgusting and I cannot understand why this would be released to the public. The color is an inoffensive brownish color with no head--likely because of the demons that lurk inside. Small is totally acetic and tastes like a beer that has been left out for days and days. In fact, I have a really apt description--this smells exactly like our kegerator’s drip tray when I get lazy and don’t change it for a few days. I imagine the taste is along the same lines, but I don’t want to subject myself to that.
They got the sour thing; maybe I should give them half a point somewhere for that? Likely not, as I think the tactic on this was just leaving the beer out and then bottling it. This is really acetic with a hefty dose of cardboard. Overall, just an epic fail. Please don’t try this again.

UPDATED: APR 12, 2012 Aroma is very "odd" and unpleasant. Taste is very tart with minimal bitterness. Overall it’s too odd and sour for my taste.

A mahoganny amber ale with a super thick big bubbled moka head. Light aroma of lactic acid and light berries, some fishy off notes. In mouth, a rather weak example of a sour ale, woody (like fibrous wood chips), light nutty malts, puckering sourness, but no body. A miss, in this case. rocbyter (2131) - Waterbury, Connecticut, USA - JUL 26, 2010
Light sour aroma with some spicy malts mixed in. Amber color with a small white head. Sour beginning that fades in the finish to a moderate malt flavor. Damico (3147) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 31, 2010
The aroma of slightly sweet cherries in this sour ale. The clear brown scotch color looks unfiltered. The flavor is that of a typical sour ale, you get hit nicely up front with cherries. DocLock (10721) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 18, 2010
Bottle from Capone’s. This one was dark brown, very under carbonated, not terribly complex and not balanced, and was hard to finish. I did not enjoy this one at all. jkwalking05 (4743) - Arlington, Texas, USA - MAY 5, 2010
Amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is of corn and malt. Taste is tart with citrus and some corn.
