A decent wheat ipa. Strong malty flavor with a bitter slightly hoppy finish. Smells wheaty and pours light yellow in color. Had at home out of a bottle

Hazy orange with a bright white one-finger head and nice lacing. Grassy hop aromas with notes of pine and citrus and bready malts. Modestly bitter hop taste with a strong bready malt backbone. Medium body, highly carbonated, prickly mouthfeel and a crisp finish. TheCaptMatey (215) - Ohio, USA - OCT 19, 2014
Poured a gold colour with a medium fluffy white head. Aroma is primarily a pine with notes of citrus hoppiness. A bready flavor is coupled with hoppy citrus and is followed by a strong pine bitterness. A fairly carbonated medium brew with a dry finish. Darkmagus82 (2303) - - AUG 11, 2014

Poured from bottle into pint glass
Appearance – Pours a hazy orange color with a one finger white head. The head fades rather fast, but leaves a decent level of lacing on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is heaviest of a pine smell. Mixed with this are notes of a caramel and citrus sweetness as well as a lighter grapefruit and grassy hop smell.
Taste – The taste begins with a bready and light citrus sweet flavor. Mixed with these tastes is a pine hopiness. As the taste advances the sweetness fades and more pine hop comes to the tongue. More toward the end, other hop flavors of a grassy and grapefruit nature mix with the increasing pine hop and the decreasing sweetness, to produce a slightly bitter and drier flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the just above average side in terms of creaminess with the carbonation level being rather average. Pretty nice for the hop as well as the transitions from sweet to more bitter.
Overall – Rather easy drinking, starting out sweeter, but drying out and becoming more bitter toward the end. Not bad.

UPDATED: AUG 29, 2014 Bottle: Labeled as "Magic Hat Encore" at the time. Hazy orange-amber with some lighter yellow edges. Eggshell cap, foams up big but settles quickly. Light citrus peel hoppiness with some light white pepper & slightly herbaceous undertones. A touch of toasted biscuit & thick, bready malt. A little sweet. Grapefruit. Taste is more malt forward than expected; lots of toasted sweetbread, some caramel & Munich-type sweetness joins the back-end as well. Candied grapefruit, but finishes with a bitter pile of white pepper covered hop leaves. Overall, not a bad beer to get people into IPAs, but I’m not a huge fan of the heavy caramel blending with such a staunch, leafy bitterness. They clash, rather than balance each other.

Bottle at home in Salisbury, CT. Pours clear, light gold with a foamy, white head. Sugary malts in the nose, bread, ripe orange. Medium sweet flavor with lots more bready malts, light pine and hints of tangy citrus. Light to medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet on the finish with further bread, light leaves, more zippy citrus. Simple and a little odd. Beer5000 (6825) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - APR 13, 2014
355 ml bottle as Magic Hat Encore. Rather clear deep orange body with a medium sized off-white head. Mild aroma of citric fruit and malt. Flavor is sweet malt, some caramel, citric fruit, a hint of pine and moderate bitterness. Does neither feel like a wheat or IPA, even not anything in-between. More like an APA, and actually a nice one. Smooth and easy drinkable. ganache (6089) - New Jersey, USA - APR 9, 2014
Bottle as Encore. Nose is very sweet with lemony citrus and wheat, pours orange-gold with a soapy beige head. Taste is strongly sweet, strongly tangy with firm medium bitterness, plenty of caramel and crystal, a little astringency running along the bottom, more citrus, light wheat smooth and scratch. Medium body is soft and refreshing, lightly crisp, slightly green hop effects. Absolutely serves its intended purpose, has an awesome quenching quality about its feel. rumproasts (6052) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - APR 4, 2014
bottle. golden with one finger head. mild body with solid hops with a good mix of citrus flavors and bitterness. howlinwlf (26) - Ronkonkoma, New York, USA - MAR 7, 2014
Poured into a "pint glass". A nice half inch head at pouring, with a cloudy and soft copper colored body. This IPA has a very even flavor to it. Not too weak and piney. Far from hop-head heaven. Solid flavor. I’d do a session with this!
