3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JAN 22, 2012 Bottle. The pour was a rich golden honey color with a large (2-3 finger) rocky white head that mostly diminished into a fluffy puddled residue that created excellent sheets of lace on the glass.
The aroma upfront was bold and hoppy of a citrus hop, a straw like malt and a moldy yeast with a notes of caramel, citrus (grapefruit) and a decent dose of wheat.
The taste was very yeasty and a bit malty with a note of caramel from the onset. It then progressed into a nice bitter hoppy flavor with a strong citrus note and a bit of wheat at the end. The flavor lasted an average amount of time after the swallow, allowing for the hoppy grapefruit taste to linger on the taste buds.
Mouthfeel was a bit heavier than light in body with a nice dry texture and a prickly carbonation.
Overall an IPA with a really nice wheat characteristic and a wonderful hoppy aftertaste.
12oz bottle with the encore lable. pours out hazy copper topped with a white head. Nose is tangerine citrus wheat and grain. Taste is more of the light citrus hops some grass and wheat. Bulk_Carrier (6064) - Vermont, USA - JUN 30, 2016
Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a decent looking burnt orange to yellow color with a slim finger’s worth of sharply dissipating white bubbly head. Barely any foam and barely any lacing.
The smell started off with a spritzy sharp sweet wheat, delicate floral tones (but super dry). And then some burnt malts.
The taste was mainly the same bringing the wheat right on into the aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation runs at a decent pace along my tongue, some sharpness.
Overall, acceptable, but nothing over the top. JPDIPSO (6298) - Wauwatosa, USA - MAY 16, 2016
Lightly hazed straw color with a moderate off-white head. Aromas of flour glue, wheat, citric zest and pulp. Candy-like citrus flavors jump to the forefront. Light wheat in the background. This one give me another example of an American wheat that I have a hard time embracing. So little character. 3/10

bottled - nice orangey color but odd aroma. Decent flavor (not very hoppy though for an IPA). Refreshing.

12 ounce bottle. The beer is a hazed copper color with a white head of foam. The aroma has grassy pine. The taste is mildly bitter and a bit resinous. Medium body and medium carbonation. samsmith33 (772) - - JUL 26, 2015
4 magic hat ipa’s side by side. 1 Electric Peel, 2 Encore (odd notion, wheat), 3 Lucky Kat, 4 HIPA.
Encore is smooth. Wheat balances the sharp ipa flavors. Taste and Aroma are pleasant , but not very strong.

12oz bottle with the "Encore" label. This one had been sitting around in the fridge for awhile as I figured it would be disappointing but it’s not bad. In fact, one of the better Magic Hat’s I’ve had in awhile.
