Pours dark brown to a black appearance. Some are saying they see a red but I can only see that near the top looking through the opposite edge from me. Aroma of semi-sweet chocolate, roasted coffee, and cherry. Tastes of coffee and a lingering feeling of dark bakers chocolate. A bit creamy, but pretty light feeling for a stout (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing). Pretty flat on the carbonation side (i.e. zero to little head ) and the tastes lasts a decent amount after a drink. Overall nothing is to overwhelming which I think is good, except for maybe the aroma which I personally like in this kind of beer. A good compliment to a non-chocolate/coffee dessert unless you want to over indulge yourself. cwondo (24) - Rochester, Michigan, USA - SEP 29, 2009
Bottle. Nice black appearance, dark red around edges of the glass where light is getting through, but hardly any head or lacing. I smelled milk chocolate, cappuccino, and dried cherries. Flavor was nice with a tangy, sweet, malty fruitiness that was shoved aside by the aftertaste of dark cocoa. Also, I got the lingering taste of a strawberry banana smoothie. Expected the stout to be thicker on the palate. SrSilliGose (3332) - pouring bus, New Brunswick, CANADA - SEP 28, 2009
Bottle from phaleslu- Thanks PETER! Pours a deep brown with a tan head. Notes of chocolate, coffee, locorice, cocoa. Chewy and slightly grainy mouthfeel. Tasty beer. The best I’ve had from Magic Hat! mmmbeer (1429) - Austin, Texas, USA - SEP 28, 2009
12 oz. bottle served in shaker- poured solid black color when held to a light source, low carbonation, razor thin white ring around the glass for a head. Aroma of roasted caramel malt, yeast, and chocolate. HIts the mouth with a high-medium body, roasted malt easy to spot, holds up well in the middle, finish has a lght lingering. I like it, not bad. angrypirate06 (1388) - Texas, USA - SEP 28, 2009
Bottle thanks to blutt59. Black pour with a beige head. Aroma is smoky, ash and nicotine. Flavor was smoke, ash, smells like a bar.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a thin and short-lived head. Aromas are fake chocolate and something syrupy that I can’t quite figure out. Flavor is similar and a little odd. Sure, there is a chocolaty stoutiness to it, but there is an artificial quality to this beer that defies my best attempts at description. It’s not bad... But not great. 12oz bottle. Black pour with a big tan head. Sugary banana nose with sweet malt and chocolate. Banana and sweet malt flavor with a roasty chocolate finish. rocbyter (2159) - Waterbury, Connecticut, USA - SEP 27, 2009
Robust sweet malt aroma. Black color with no head at all. Mildly sweet in the beginning with a moderate bitter finish. Flat. Boliv (1150) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 27, 2009
Bottle. Deep dark brown with a small tan head. Sweet roasted chocolate malt, espresso, and vanilla aromas. Initially sweet, milk chocolate, with a bitter espresso and bitter chocolate finish. Perhaps a touch thin for a stout....but, this is good. Courtesy of Miles and Melissa, congrats guys! j12601 (13099) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - SEP 27, 2009
On tap for growler fills at Half Time. Pours a deep dark black with a medium tan head that deflates relatively quickly. Roast, chocolate, smoke on the nose. Medium to thick bodied, very roasty with some caramel notes and some slight sweet notes, possibly pear? A bit odd. Finishes up with some really off flavors that taste a little like burnt corn chips, and char.
