Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a deep brown color with a one finger of thick cream colored head. The head very slowly fades over time leaving a nice level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is very sweet with a strong caramel smell mixed with some chocolate, raisin, prune, and cola. Behind all the sweet smells, is a brown bread aroma as well as a little bit of yeast.
Taste – The taste is much less sweet then I would have originally anticipated from the nose. It begins with a light caramel flavor mixed with a light amount of roasted malt. The roasted flavors get a little bit more intense taking on a slightly more bitter coffee flavor. Some chocolate flavors come to the tongue more toward the middle of the taste, being accompanied by some yeast which brings with it some more tart and funky tastes. In the end, as a light cola and grassy taste and a bit of an earthy flavor come to the tongue, one is left with a slightly bitter, funky, and roasty flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thinner side with a carbonation level that is on the slightly higher side. The thinner body is not really very fitting for the more roasted flavors of the brew, but both the thinner body and the higher carbonation are rather decent for the saison tastes of the beer, so overall it if pretty decent.
Overall – A decent brew, although nothing all that fantastic.

"Earthy and herbal...hard to pick out what’s going on in here. Dark brown pour, assertive aroma. Not as much of the traditional saison qualities as expected, but a fairly assertive flavor for a 4% brew. Sessionable and unique, but just above average." Draft at the Dillinger in Boulder City. Dark clear brown color, fluffy brown head. Aroma of cocoa powder. Taste is similar. How is this a saison? voyageurmike (437) - Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 20, 2014
Dark brown with a huge lacey head. Nothing but its strong carbonation suggests saison style. It is disappointing given the other beers from this brewery that are among my favorites. TXBadger (2811) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JUN 5, 2014
Pours a brownish color with off-white head. Some floral notes, fruit, and another weird aroma that I can’t quite put my finger on it on the nose; follows onto the palate. This one is weird.

Bottle at Taps, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy light tan head, The aroma is light citrus. The flavour is strong bitter with a watery tart resin light medicinal hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Not my favourite beer and I won’t be ordering another. A Saison? I don’t think so. Where is the drawing board again? DrSteveBrule (52) - - MAY 4, 2014
Probably an old bottle, although it's hard to see how it would degrade too much. Taste is average. Mouthfeel is thin and strong carbonation.

Bottle. Dark brown with a very tall foamy head. Dry and tart, complex flavors , lingering finish. Not one that I would reach for in the future. hotstuff (5158) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - APR 29, 2014
Rated on 4-29-2014 (Bottle) This beer pours a huge smooth frothy beige head that mostly diminishes, transparent reddish brown hue, lively, fast rising carbonation, and a fair amount of lacing adorns my glass. The aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, suggestion of fresh fruit, and earthy. The flavor is semi-sweet, moderately bitter, roasted malt, earthy, and some fresh fruit. The mouthfeel is watery and thin. This beer is light bodied. This is unlike any Saison beer that I have ever drank/rated. The aromas and flavors are not typical of this beer style and thus the flavor of this beer is a major turnoff for me. I do not like the taste of this beer at all and it is a beer I have no interest in drinking again. thedm (6183) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - APR 29, 2014
This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a large sized head of foamy fine to large sized tan colored bubbles that were very long lasting and left behind a no visible carbonation opaque light black brown colored body and a thick foamy lacing. The smooth aroma was floral. The sharp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a lingering herbal aftertaste. The tangy flavor contained notes of mildly bitter mild spice mild hops brown malt breads and malt. An OK brew just nothing special.
