1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
DATE TASTED: November 8, 2013... GLASSWARE: Kisatsky’s Tavern pint... OCCASION: post soccer/rental car/surgery Friday!... APPEARANCE: jet black body; slush brown, chunky, topographically significant head that laces thickly as a cloud--promising... AROMA: peat, lactic, soda pop and funk--NOT the barnyard variety; more of a porter than a saison--a mislabel?...PALATE: full-bodied, powerfully off-kilter residue--not enjoyable...TASTE: first, the aftertaste: malt that drags and offers a mucused experience; actually tastes more like old pint glass than a refreshing saison...OVERALL: a disappointing seasonal, given the foreboding label and the usually enjoyable experience when drinking a saison; drinks too much like a chore, almost begging unfair comparisons to other, more reputable Hats or saisons...
Brown liquid with a taller, stable tan head. Toasted to roasted grainy nose. Simple light flavors, earthy malt, lightly toasted and roasted malt, and just a hint of yeast. Little bits of fruit in the finish and linger. Seems a bit watery. Don’t drink this one very cold! 1/14

Pours a hazy yellowish/gold color. Aromas of tart fruit, bread, hint of citrus. Flavor is malty/citrus. Leaves a yeasty orange aftertaste. katrinaez (2148) - norristown, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 8, 2015
I liked it and don’t remember much since I had it years ago. Just updating that I had it. aumentm (452) - North Carolina, USA - APR 24, 2015

Not as bad as a lot of the ratings but nothing special either. Normal Magic Hat that has to make the beer not really a saison but something entirely different that has fruit and rind esters and the Magic Hat taste. tgncc (3136) - Bellmore, New York, USA - JAN 25, 2015
Aroma: fruity, floral
Appearance: deep brown
Flavor: like aroma
Finish: floral hops
Weak, but drinkable

Almost Black, Opaque Brown, Huge Foamy Head, Lots of Lacing. No Aroma. Lightly Toasted, Reminds Me Of Guinness. That impression is reaffirmed by the looks and taste. Taste is also more like a stout. Toasted Malt and Bitter. Makes me Wonder if this is misclassified in wrong style. Drinkable. Just OK for Me. glennmastrange (2897) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - NOV 10, 2014
Bottle. Moderate toasted, dark chocolate and mild coffee for the malt, herbs for the hops, light leather for the yeast, with a hint of smoke. Head is large, fizzy/frothy tan with excellent yet slippery lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is very dark brown. Flavor starts slightly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is on the lighter side of medium, watery with a fizzy carbonation. A drinkable beer, not much of a Saison though. jeremytoni (3082) - Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA - SEP 30, 2014
From a bottle poured a brown color with a good amount of head. Bitter spicy flavor with a lingering aftertaste.
