Frank (4194) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 8, 2014
This bills itself as a rye IPA but is really too dark and sweet to be an IPA. It is a brownish orange color, rather clear w/ a rather long lasting head of large to medium bubbles. The nose is of pine and earth w/ a bit of an herbal tinge. Flavor is yet more earthy but in a nice way that sort of reminds me of an exaggerated version of the hop character in a nice bitter. This is a bit on the sweet side which is generally not my thing but it works here due to the creamy texture, which I will presume is the result of the inclusion of rye in the grist. It finishes very mildly w/ a lingering sweetness and just a touch of bitterness. This isn’t a world beater but it’s a pretty tasty beer.

Nephilium (1818) - Cleveland, Ohio, USA - APR 22, 2014
The rye is there in the nose, with an underlying base of caramel. Pours a reddish-amber, with a quickly fading off-white head. The hops are there, and blend well with the rye, this isn’t on over the top IPA. Nice lingering bitterness on the finish, and a nice drinkable beer.

Fatehunter (2567) - Corbett, Oregon, USA - APR 13, 2014
Pours a finger of head on a hazy dark straw colored body. The aroma is rye, musty lemon (in the best way) and earth. The taste is mild rye at first, moderate lemon bitterness, then it ambles towards a muddled bitter finish. The texture is crisp with soft edges. An enjoyable IPA. The taste finish could have been a little more structured though.

Tiger_08 (138) - Sarnia, Ontario, CANADA - APR 10, 2014
March 26, 2014. Bottle pours bright amber with lots of carbonation a small off-white head, lengthy retention and a fair amount of lacing. The aroma is firstly malt and rye as well as some citrus hops, and pepper. The taste is bitter, spicy, and peppery with some malts and rye. The mouthfeel is soft and fizzy. Palette is just short of hitting the mark for balancing the hops with the rye and spices, despite this being the best offering in the summer 12 pack.

Brewbie (479) - New York, USA - APR 6, 2014
12o bottle. cloudy dark amber, nice fluffy tan head. strong malty aroma, biting rye and hop taste, some spice, a little sweetness in the finish.

ganache (5901) - New Jersey, USA - APR 4, 2014
Bottle. Nose lightly dank and diverse, some spaghetti sauce leading into earthy rye, dough with complementary malt, really pleasant hops. Pours deep orange-amber, a little dark, with a dense sudsy beige head. Taste is somewhat sweet, thin body with a tickle of alcohol showing, spices are there but small and curt, crisp with earthy caramel and pleasant light bitterness. The floral, almost perfumed character isn’t in-your-face but can drive this to being too sweet without a more aggressive bitterness for balance. There’s some good malt here, even if it’s brittle, and good balance, but the advice is definitely slow-going.

hotstuff (5158) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - APR 2, 2014
Rated on 3-20-2014 (Bottle from Kroger’s in Fort Wayne, IN) This beer pours a small off-white head with a lengthy retention, amber body, extremely fizzy carbonation, fast rising carbonation, and a fair amount of lacing. The aroma is malt, rye, citrus hops, spicy, and peppery. The taste is bitter, light citrus hops, malty, rye, spicy, and peppery. The mouthfeel is soft lively and this beer is medium bodied. This beer is just okay tasting for me. The different flavors just did not come together all that well.

jflopsu (1614) - New Jersey, USA - MAR 31, 2014
Pours a a murky redish-orange. Has a strong malty aroma. Taste is very grainy with heavy malt, wheat, and some hops. A very earthy beer.

rlpeeler (93) - Bowling Green, Kentucky, USA - MAR 29, 2014
Bottle from a variety pack poured into a pint glass. Dark amber to cooper with small white head. Taste is rye/wheat and malt with very light hops. It is smooth with good mouthfeel. A bit out of the ordinary for an IPA but not bad.

3.2
mansquito (6437) - Nueva York, New York, USA - MAR 29, 2014
At work: Pours copper with off-white head. Aroma is rye malts, mellow hoppy mixture, butterscotch, and fruitiness. Taste is pretty light. A tad bit spicy. Not too much bitterness. Really, it is not bad, but not particularly exceptional. It is a little different from other beers, which is nice.
