Aroma of hops. Some malts shine through. Light tan foam on top. Spicy taste of rye. Not my thing.

ya know, with lots of these magic hats you can’t tell if you’ve tased them or not. from a bot. brownish yellow. friendly mild hop perfume olfactory. nice thin creamy head. does have some mild sizzle, just barely. but the overriding factor in this brew is its nasty rude on ipa style with a rye kik ass finish. not impressed. swoopjones (7020) - Buffalo, New York, USA - JUN 5, 2013
Draft at coles. Copper colored pour. Mild aroma, touch o coffee. Rye flavor, coffee grinds, medium bitterness. Medium mouthfeel. Average Pailhead (6539) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - JUN 4, 2013
Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate caramel, toffee, rye, and aged citrus hops. It pours a transparent copper with a one off-white head that fades to a thin film outlined by a soapy ring. There is some thin webbing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate caramel, toffee, and citrus. The finish has light aged citurs hops and spicy rye notes. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation and a somewhat soft mouthfeel. Overall, I’m generally not a big rye IPA fan and this one is too malt heavy (caramel and toffee) for my personal preferences. crazyvin (2026) - New York, USA - JUN 3, 2013
Poured a deep amber color, almost brown. An off white head that had decent retention and nice lace. Some carbonation present. Aroma was a mix of sweet caramel malts. A nice peppery rye note and a dose of hops mostly pine. Flavor was initially sweet from the malts but gave way to the pepper of the rye. Hops were good, assertive but not over powering. Finish was dry. Alcohol was certainly present.

12 ounce bottle purchased at The Rouses Point Beer Emporium. The aroma has a fair amount of spicy rye character with a little earthiness. Light ethanol is also present retronasally. Transparent light amber body with a medium off-white head. Starts a little herbal and becomes quite a bit spicy with rye character. Pretty chewy later on, and a little nutty, actually. Some ethanol comes through late. Light caramel flavor, too. A bit of a sloppy ale. raphael (1254) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAY 29, 2013

Pours a cloudy deep golden color with a thick cream colored head. Aroma is of hops, rye, bread, grapefruit, some grain, and barley. Medium bodied. Flavors are of malt, rye, bark, slight citrus, grain, and earthiness. Leaves a dry dirty rye finish. Not too bad. It’s nice to see Magic Hat getting back on track. 60minuteman (1715) - West Chester, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 21, 2013
