DYCSoccer17 (3714) - Woodland, California, USA - MAY 30, 2013
12 ounce bottle purchased at The Rouses Point Beer Emporium. The aroma has a fair amount of spicy rye character with a little earthiness. Light ethanol is also present retronasally. Transparent light amber body with a medium off-white head. Starts a little herbal and becomes quite a bit spicy with rye character. Pretty chewy later on, and a little nutty, actually. Some ethanol comes through late. Light caramel flavor, too. A bit of a sloppy ale.

12 oz bottle from Trader’s Joe. Pours dark amber with thin off-white hea. Aroma is of citrusy hops, some spices and ripe apples. Body is full, creamy and tangy. Taste is of citrusy hops, spicy rye, toffee and ripe fruit. Finish is long and very hoppy. Overall this is nice hoppy brew.

halfonit (1412) - Fall River, Massachusetts, USA - MAY 23, 2013
Pours a cloudy deep golden color with a thick cream colored head. Aroma is of hops, rye, bread, grapefruit, some grain, and barley. Medium bodied. Flavors are of malt, rye, bark, slight citrus, grain, and earthiness. Leaves a dry dirty rye finish. Not too bad. It’s nice to see Magic Hat getting back on track.

onceblind (10905) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAY 21, 2013
Hazy dark amber with a generous and persistent off-cream foamy head. Aroma is toasty, nutty, full of toffee with a strong backing of pine resin and some earthy lemon rind. Flavor starts kinda bitter with some earthy and leafy hoppy resins, but then quickly turns to this rye bread and toast note, followed with a lot of toffee and gentle earthiness. In fact, there is so much nutty toasty toffee that the entire finish of the flavor strikes me as a brown ale.

UPDATED: MAY 21, 2013 12 oz. bottle at the in-laws. Pours a cloudy orange-amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel malts, rye, sweat, brown sugar, and orange peel. Flavor of caramel malts, rye, tangerine, and tropical fruits. Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a malty mouthfeel. Rye on the finish. Not bad.

unclemattie (4406) - Georgia, USA - MAY 17, 2013
12oz bottle. Cap read, "Liquor before beer... are you kidding." Well, actually, tonight, I did think about it. Pour red/amber color, white foam, nice lacing. Mild grain nose, nice wooded hop character. Tastes of earthy, bitter hops. Velvety sweet caramel malts. Smooth, creamy texture. Very well balanced. Spicy tingle in the finish. Medium bodied. A very nice, very well hopped, RYE IPA. (3703)

Location: 12 oz bottle from Giannone, 5/16/13, Drinking this one virtually with jcos!

Aroma: The nose of this one is sweet malts, rye bread, and some light earth/pine hops
Appearance: Pours a dark reddish color with a a beige head that leaves heavy lace on the glass
Flavor: The taste is lightly sweet, rye malts, some caramel, mild butter, and fairly light hops
Palate: The body is medium (leaning light), a little sticky, with an okay, but slightly off mouthfeel
Overall Impression: I wasn’t too impressed by this one. It’s pretty run of the mill. The rye actually shines decently enough, but the IPA flavors do not.

jcos (1855) - Maryland, USA - MAY 16, 2013
Location/Date:Bottle on May 16th, 2013 with Ben(virtually) while listening to The Beatles play "Ticket To Ride".

Appearance: Pours a cloudy orange brown.
Aroma: Aroma of rye, some caramel.
Taste: Rye, faint, bitterness, sweet caramel,
Palate:Light medium body, somewhat thin body, lingering aftertaste.

Summary: This beer hit the right notes, but there is some sweetness to it that I’m getting that is a bit too strong.
