Bottle. Almost black with small beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, butter and a little bread. Flavour is roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, liquorice, hops, berries, medium bitter, little vegetable, pine and medium sweet. Monkeyharris (11) - - JAN 28, 2014
Bottle from Beer Ritz in Leeds. £7+. As dark as night with a dark tan head.
Not as good as i remember it from 12 months ago, in fact VERY disappointing.
Poor nose, slight coffee but mostly an overwhelming smell of sick after too many spirits.
Taste was slightly better but not by much.
Surely this was a bad bottle!!! But a bad bottle that cost me in excess of £7 :-( Garrold (5278) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - JAN 22, 2014
Tap at The Grove, Huddersfield. 20.01.13. Black. Thin, coffee coloured head. Big, roast coffee. Burnt wood. Some dark chocolate. Lovely stuff, but has a tad too much burnt bitterness at the end, for me. mike_77 (6673) - Breda, NETHERLANDS - JAN 11, 2014
Quite a sweet fruity aroma backed up by roasted malt. Quite an intense, juicy, fruity taste with lots of bitter roasted malts, coffee coming through strongly in the aftertaste. daniel_Hop_It (21) - York, North Yorkshire, ENGLAND - JAN 4, 2014
Thick black creamy head. Aroma mainly hops, nice chocolate at first, turns to espresso. v hoppy finish. Good

Vanilla on the nose. Slight coffee on the palate along with vanilla, fruity berries and a hoppy bitterness on the back end, lovely. DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - DEC 14, 2013
Taster on tap at Ei8ht Ball. Very dark brown color. Lots of dark fruit in the flavor. Big roasty malt, kind of burnt, light coffee, some dark chocolate. Bigger body, lightly chewy, slick texture. Minimal tan head, leaves good short ropes of lace. Moderate sweet taste, big bitter. Kind of a lightly spicy bite in the finish. Solid, big assertive imperial stout. Probably the best English example I’ve ever had, though doesn’t quite compare to my favorite American examples. Gets better as I go, though. b3shine (8875) - Indiana, USA - DEC 13, 2013
Draft to taster. Looks good for the style; a dark cola with light beige lacing. Smells of dark malt, molasses, and a bit of chocolate and roast. Tastes like it smells with a somewhat thin, average mouthfeel. Not bad, but not good either. phaleslu (10274) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - DEC 13, 2013
Draft in a sampler at Ei8ht Ball. Pours a deep, near-opaque brown with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, maybe a little smoke, dark chocolate, burnt sugar, and peat. Flavor of roasted malts, burnt toast, dark chocolate, rubber, grapefruit peel, and florals. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a bitter mouthfeel. Almost drinks like some sort of imperial stout-black IPA-smoked hybrid beer. I wouldn’t mind trying the barrel aged version to see if that cuts it a bit, mellows it out, balances it more. Tap. Jet black and a khaki creamy head. Mineral, bitter chocolate, coffee, slightly fruity an toasty aromas. Flavor is dry, bitter chocolate, espresso, tart dark fruit and roasty dry. Medium and silky body.
