Dark Arts blends 4 malts and bags of whole hops to deliver a decadently deep and indulgent experience. A luxuriously smooth mouthfeel, is followed by spicy hop notes and full flavours of chocolate, liquorice, blackberries and figs. The finish is rich and satisfying with a lingering roasted bitterness. Our stout will convert you to the dark side.

33cl can. Pitch black pour with a thin beige head. Smells like roasted malts, chocolate and hops. The taste follows the same notes, a nice mix of chocolate bitterness, hop bitterness and caramel sweetness. Medium bodied, medium carbonation and a roasty bitter-sweet aftertaste.

Can, from Message in a Bottle, Cleethorpes. Jet black, thin but lasting coffee beige head and gentle condition. Pleasing sweet coffee, liquorice, blackcurrant and some earthiness in the nose, full bodied in the mouth with sweet liquorice, sweet creamy coffee and fruit offset by a roasted barley bitterness and some peppery spice notes, finish is long and sweet but tempered by a low dry bitter roasted barley note.

An innovative and unique brew that - although for me a bit hard to thoroughly enjoy - is so well composed that all its harder-to-enjoy-features seem to be there intentionally. Aromas of powder/dust, earth, peanuts, slight sulfur traces and hints of pineapple. Dusty/earthy also in taste, unroasted peanuts, powdery roast, le cachou strong licorice pastilles with a harsh, mouthdrying bitterness at the finish.

Kolor: Czarny. Raczej nieprzejrzysty.
Czuć zdecydowanie ciemne owoce - figi, rodzynki i czarną porzeczkę. Tuż w pobliżu czai się kawa i gorzka czekolada. Paloność przytłumiona. Po ogrzaniu przypalone ziarno i minimalna żywica.
Smak: Konkretnie zaskakujący - figi, winogrona i czarna porzeczka. Potem czekolada, kawa i szczypta orzechw laskowych. Goryczka jest średniej siły, kawowo-orzechowy posmak w ustach. Wysycenie umiarkowane i odpowiednie ciało. Nietypowy Stout, ale też nie jakiś wybitny.
Wysycenie: Niskie.
Etykieta: Cycuś-glancuś! Nic bym tutaj nie zmieniał. Jedynie ten napisł "Surreal Stout". Bardziej mi tu pasuje "Imperial Stout". Taką mam wizję;-). Swoją drogą czy ktoś poza mną odnajduje tu podobieństwo z Oskar Blues Brewery - Ten Fidy?
Podsumowanie:
Browar z Huddersfield, UK debiutuje na moim blogu. W ostatnim czasie zasłyneli z bardzo udanej serii craftowych piw puszkowych. Dark Arts oznaczony jest jak Surreal Stout, czyli Stout Absurdalny. Określa go dość swobodne podejście do dodatkw, a także specyficzny sposb obrwki wstępnej. Tak więc efekt końcowy był dość nowatorski i oryginalny. No bo jak w Stoucie figi czy czarną porzeczkę? Fajne uczucie. Poza tym trochę klasyki czyli kawa, czekolada, palone słody i orzechy laskowe. Warto obserwować ten browar, bo mają na prawdę ciekawe pomysły. Ja z pewnością sprbuje jeszcze paru ich piw. Podobno mają świetne Gose z malinami, a także Gose z agrestem. Brzmi interesująco xD
